Hi,
Sorry for strange question!
What is union(s) in Finland for Software Developers? How can I find if I belong to any? I have YTK associate membership but I guess it is not union. Should I ask my employer or if there is any database to check myself!?
Kiitos

You must join to be a member. So you should know if you have done so. YTK is unemployment fund.

Thanks for reply. YTK is for unemployment situation while Tietoala is Union with support while unemployment. But, I guess we cannot keep both. Do you know why? I I have to choose one then which one do you advise? YTK has clearly written daily allowance in unemployment period while I do not see anything like this on tietoala website. Any advise?

You can choose to keep YTK as your unemployment fund and not join the fund associated with Tietoala. The benefits in all the funds are the same but fees and customer service vary. Here’s another relevant union:

IT developers are protected by the union rules whether you join or not. So why join?? I don't know how to join but same benefits anyway.
You get to say what the rules are. And if !"#¤% hits the fan you'll get the lawyers that made the rules to represent you in court.
