Just have one question. I've proven my identity on Fabruary 2020 and my status is still on 1 ("waiting for processing") and I constantly log in and check it compulsively. Do they let you know by email that the status of your application has change to 2 ("processing") or yo only know when they have made a desiiton (status 3)?

I have a friend who passed the yki test after the 4th try but he still cannot carry on a conversation in Finnish. During the citizenship interview, are you expected to be fluent in the language or just a few words are acceptable?Admin123 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 11:50 amGot decision yesterday!

You are expected to have a simple conversation with the person taking your documents. So 100% fluency is not required but definitely more than a few words is needed. You need to understand the questions they ask you and respond in Finnish.krapulassa wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 1:02 amI have a friend who passed the yki test after the 4th try but he still cannot carry on a conversation in Finnish. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Applications even with similar backgrounds still make a difference in processing time. The queue concept is irrelevant. Good luck to everyone.

Have your checked with the digi ja väestötietovirasto, whether your citizenship status is now updated? I have checked mine. It hasn't been updated yet.

Hi everyone! Now is my turn to submit a citizenship application:) Is it required to bring a photo like it was for oleskelulupa? Didn't find the info on migri website.

Hi Everyone,
If one gets a positive decision about citizenship, how long does it take for it to be registered in the system and to be able to get a passport ?
Thanks!

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
Do you know if living on social benefits can affect the result of a citizenship application in Finland?
What if someone has never worked but has always received benefits from Kela? Can s/he become a Finnish citizen similarly to a skilled worker who has been working full-time and paying taxes since moving to Finland?

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
I am kinda confused with the whole thing. I applied since October 2019, proved my identity in November 2019 and up till now , I am still waiting for the decision. Can anyone tell me what the immigration means when they ask, did you arrive Finland with a resident permit ? I don't know how to answer that since I came I to Finland on a polish resident permit which is valid in all EU since I was married to a polish EU citizen. ..maybe they were refering to illegal immigrants who came in without a resident permit or a passport. ?

You can not live in Finland on a residence permit issued by another Schengen member country. A residence permit will only allow you to live in the country which has issued the permit. You can always visit and stay in other Schengen member countries for up to 90 days. However, you will not be a resident of any of them until you change your permit.

Lacking in context but they need to know about status on arrival to calculate period of residence.
