My citizenahip application is over 2yrs since February 2019 and still in 2nd stage.

My pending residence permit application was the caused of the delay. My country wasn't on the list.

My residence permit must be running before I can be granted citizenship.

I asked the lady incharge of my citizenship application to take permit application and process it herself since its the same immigration system handing such cases but she said we must wait for the permit decision and that it was another department handling the application.

Citizenship application department is different from residence permit application department. 😳
What an absolute joke of a system migri has emplaced.

You can check who is Head of Migri now. Now Pauliina Helminen.
In migri email’s use just like this: etunimi.sukunimi@migri.fi

If you know name and surname you can use it.

There are many ylitarkastaja, in fact, they are the ones who make decisions about citizenship. So if you send mail to Migri, there will be a ylitarkastaja replying to you. I know many names 🤣

Why your RP application has been pending for two years? How long has your RP been in processing then? something doesnt add up here

Is it permanent RP what you are waiting? As it does take around a year to process according to Migri calculator and if you don’t have any other valid RP, then in theory it would pause your citizenship application.

Hello

Finally, I got a decision today, I am over the moon :D This is my timeline:

2/11/2020 We have received your application
2/17/2020 You have proved your identity
5/17/2020 You have sent additional information
8/11/2020 You have sent additional information
8/14/2020 You have sent additional information
9/12/2020 You have sent additional information
10/22/2020 You have sent additional information
1/8/2021 You have sent additional information
1/6/2021 You have sent additional information
1/16/2021 The processing of your application has started
3/22/2021 A decision has been made on your application

My country is not on the list and my queue number was 900 something. It took 13 months but in reality, the processing was very quick because my 4 year requisite was fulfilled only yesterday. I had the 4 years already when I applied in 2020 but it was a combination between A and B. Then the official told me that only the period with A counted (because I interrupted it) so I had the correct period only yesterday and today I already got a decision. In reality, they already knew my application was approved but they were waiting for me to have the whole 4 years of A in order, so the processing was less than a day after I fulfilled the requirements.

I was waiting for more than a year and I was quite upset because I thought they were taking too long. Only after I had 12 months after I visited the center I sent an email and the officer explained the problem about counting my residence period and that I shall receive an answer after I have the right period. I write this so the people that have so long time waiting maybe should have that in mind, that could be a possible reason for the delay. When I visited migri they told me that I fulfilled the period and everything was good, also before that, I called migri and the agent told me that my residence period was enough. But the person who got my case thought differently and counted in a different way so it depends on the agent.

I wish you good luck to all. Be patient and don't obsess as I did -.-

Congrats and thanks for sharing especially with queue number. The more data we have the better feelings we have :) I hope someday I share my story with my data. My queue number is 3481 so If it goes with the same pace I need to wait 11 more months...

Congratulations! I know you said you had A and B totaling 4 years, but the agent only counted A. But is it possible to apply before 4 years if someone only had A or EU permit, for example 6 months before 4 years?

You can apply with reasonable time before you fulfill your residency requirement. Now processing time is 5-19 months, so I think you can apply 6 month before you fulfill the requirements easily.

I think if case without decision more than 8 months, that’s not good. Probably, all cases where pending period is over 7 months - it will be decline decision. Because the most of the lucky people got their decisions in 5-7 months
