What does "ihan nasta juippi" mean?
What does "ihan nasta juippi" mean?
I had a Finnish roommate in college, and he gave me a T-shirt with "IHAN NASTA JUIPPI" printed on it. What does this phrase mean?

Re: What does "ihan nasta juippi" mean?
Based on the choice of words, likely there's a cultural reference to "stadin slangi" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helsinki_slang ), which has the notion of dividing people based on their origins, whether from Helsinki (through multiple generations), or from elsewhere in Finland (which are referred to more or less as hillbillies, "juippi" being one of those words).
More generally, "juippi" is a word for a man, usually a younger one (but not a child), with a connotation of being maybe somewhat dubious in character, or not completely approved of by who's referring to him. "Ihan nasta" means altogether nice, not great or awesome, but still.
"Ihan nasta juippi" translates as "An OK dude" or something along those lines, the Helsinki reference adding the idea of "despite originating from outside of Helsinki".

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/juippi translates it as punk, but imho juippi is much more neutral, more like dude as FinnGuy said.
