Hi all,
I'm asking in this thread as it might be somewhat relevant. Could you give me some advice in which residence permit I should be applying to?
I applied for citizenship a year ago and my residence permit (työ) is about to expire. I never thought I would have to apply for residence permit as I believe I would get my citizenship decision before my permit expire but it seems to take longer as migri keeps extending the processing time.
Should I be applying for another 4 year jatkolupa for work (processing time 2-3 months) or pysyvä (processing time 11-14m)
It's crazy how processing time could take this long and it means that you're basically trapped in finland while your permit is getting processed.
I had asked this earlier but no one had replied

but seems like people opt for PR more?

Any updates for anyone? My place in queue is pretty much stuck, it’s barely changing (if changing at all). Still stage 1.

Better apply for RP that is faster than PR. I wish I could do the same but I went for PR and it is taking ages. It is been ovee 2 months now.

Hello,
Finally can say goodbye to this thread, just received my decision today.
Queue number was 2380 right before it got the final decision.
Overall 11-12 months of waiting, country not on the list. It's been a long year...
Wish you all lots of luck, persistence and patience.

Thank you!
I am in my 4th year of A work based residence permit, my permit expires soon so I was very anxious about this decision. Before that I was a student.
My application was in processing stage for almost 4 months. I didn't get a notification when the processing has started. But I got email + text msg when they send me supplement request and made the decision.

When is your residence permit expiring? Mine will expires end of April so I have applied for PR. Did you apply for RP or how many months did you have in your current RP? I think I am in similar situation like you I have my 4 years and I applied in June 2021.

Mine is expiring in 3 months but since my application has moved to processing stage in November so I was hoping for the decision to come before it expires so I haven't apply for an extension yet. Luckily it finally came although it was in processing stage for longer than average i think.
I just complain that it's idiotic to have 2 applications pending, double the work for migri, double the waiting time & processing fee for us so I kept waiting.
In your case I think it is wise that you applied for RP before it expire and early enough.

I already applied for Permanent Residence it has been waiting for about 3 months ago and I should have applied for residence permit. I heard residence permit is faster than PR. My citizenship application is about 8 months now. Hopefully they process one soon.

For your citizenship application to be processed you must have a valid Visa and by going with processing durations for both PR and citizenship, its likely you Will get PR processed first then only they can look into your citizenship application.Anyway good luck!
İt’s also possible to he might get the citizenship decision bfore April after that PR application will cancel No refund.

Starting to lose hope… 2930-ish in queue, stage 1, no news or supplement requests. The queue moved by 3 or so applications…
