Thank God I am not the only one obsessing over queue numbers. I have exactly the same list in my notes app, and am planning to make a diagram out of them someday.

Will Finnish social welfare cover the treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder we are developing? :) I read that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy might help so I am al least going to try it. Obviously these Kamu bot is just a distraction and does not help.
This is what happens when I think about my application process:

I'm down to 3400-ish now. My prediction from what I've been reading on the forum is that I'm going to get a decision around the first or second week of March.

I think I should start monitoring the police appointment booking system because there are no free slots at the moment for the next month and a half in Hki and for Espoo and Vantaa the first available are in mid May. The police I'd need (if I receive a positive decision of course ) in order to get ID card and passport.

Ah, I just saw that they opened a bunch of slots for Saturday and Sunday this week, so if they are doing this on a per-week basis then the situation with the slots is not as bad as I thought.

At police station you can queue, come early and get a queue number and wait for 15-30mins, the reservation and queuing is only bad in Migri unfortunately.
And if this might be of help to anyone, my application moved into stage 2 at around queue number 2780 and my decision came in 2380. Have all the extra documents (whatever those might be) already in hands if they ask might ask for. They aren’t going to make any decisions when they wait for extra documents.

What kind of extra documents have they asked from you if you don’t mind sharing?

This is entirely case by case but at least:
  • proof of income/living support is needed throughout the whole application process and entire period of residence. This include payslip, benefit decisions/payment, spouse's payslip if your permit is family ties, whatever people has mentioned here. If part of your residence period was supported by parents incase you were student then be prepared to provide proof for that too. If you have business then I have read that you would be asked for your business's income too.
  • Also provide that you have a valid residence, meaning address, that you have a valid address in Finland. In my case they asked for latest rental payment, rental contract or an extract from the house or a statement from the landlord.
  • If you have travelled outside of Finland then also stated the length and reason for example.
Basically deduct from your own situation whether they might ask for more information regarding your residence, if there's any changes to it then you must be able to explain and provide evidence. Try to make their job as easy as possible and you'll get your decision as fast as they possibly can.
I also stalked their recruitment site and they have been hiring many tarkastaja & ylitarkastaja across the whole country so finger-crossed that your decision will be coming soon.

Thanks for the info! Most probably I won't bother booking online at all in this case.

Aaand, to my utter surprise, apparently today my application moved from Stage 1 to being reviewed (Stage 2) to a positive decision being taken (Stage 3), all in one day. I just got an email and an SMS. I submitted the application on 20.5.2021 and proved my identity on 21.5.2021. The latest queue number that I got from Kamu was 3402.

The frustration the system is putting some of the applicants through is really unbearable.

Congrats! Did you get a notification when it went into processing? Or only when the decision was made?
