I still haven’t seen any forward movement since April.
And I’m in place 50-ish

Filling in my application.
"Olen tehnyt matkoja ulkomaille tai oleskellut ulkomailla Suomeen muuttamisen jälkeen".
Does this really need every trip abroad listed?
What is the scope of it - the 5 previous years (as per residency requirement), or the full 22 years I have lived in Finland.
I have taken numerous short trips etc every year - it's impossible to list the dates of them ....

Re: Citizenship Application 2022
You are one of the most dumb and stupid people I have seen in my life, I must say.yrtti wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:38 pmCan you name a country that processes these applications more quickly?hellofelicia wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 2:51 pmI'm not the poster but why shouldn't we expect that the applications are dealt with in a timely manner? Everyone here has paid the same application fee as people before us, we don't get any discounts for longer processing times, yet today it's taking Migri almost a year to process the same applications that were processed in 5 months only a couple of years ago. As far as I can see in this forum, no one is demanding to be given the citizen status, but expecting that the applications are processed without unjust delays is reasonable.
Australia: Average 18 months
USA: 18 months to 24 months
Norway: 16-19 months
Germany: Between 2 and 3 years
tl;dr you all need to stop complaining.
Would you like Migri to just make everyone wait some specific time? So even if their application is processed sooner. They make every person wait at least 12 months? You know in Australia, even if your application is processed quickly, if you get it after Australia day. You have to wait another whole year to do the inauguration on the next Australia day.
People in this country really don't understand how good they have it.
The process requires a complete background check, including one from the country in which passport you submitted in your application. That is, if you are Pakistani, they will request a full background check from Pakistan police, which adds to the time. As for how they process the applications in Finland. It's been said many times, they don't give details so people cannot 'game' the system.
Then for the speed? Increasing the speed at which these applications happen just means faster immigration. Other services need to be able to keep up with the rate at which people are granted too.
blah blah blah. You ignored every point I made about Ukraine and Ethiopia. Why even reply?![]()
Congrats, and what about this time (10 months in your case) is not fair? That seems very fair to me.hellofelicia wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 3:11 pmTime for me to leave this thread! My application went into processing yesterday morning and I received the decision today afternoon. Applied in July 2021 and proved my identity 2.8.2021, so total waiting time was 10 months 1 week. I applied with 4 years of B student permit + current A work-based residence permit. Non-EU country (biometric passport).
Good luck everyone!
It might have been shorter for you for many reasons, such as the country you are from completing their side of the background check quickly.
You already got an answer why, but you ignored it.
It's within the last 5 years, same as the employment info you are asked to provide. You should have kept records of your trips.nicnet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 10:04 amFilling in my application.

Emails, flight itinerary, passport stamps, Allegro tickets etc. Make a pot of coffee and start digging through your emails.
I have kept a physical copy of every flight I have taken in the last 17 years. I even have some VR tickets from back in 2006.
I have no concern with Ukraine or any country, I was just pointing out your rubbish and hypocrisy against Africans while trying tagging others racist. Migri is doing police check, Migri is doing this, Migri is doing that. If you know everything about Migri then why the hell are you here being the most unwanted person in the thread?

Ok - I found 49 trips in my records for the last 5 years.yrtti wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:38 pmIt's within the last 5 years, same as the employment info you are asked to provide. You should have kept records of your trips.nicnet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 10:04 amFilling in my application.

Thanks god for Covid!
I still have ticket stub for my first flight to Finland in 1989.
Re: Citizenship Application 2022
I have a question though! Is It the total trips made over the past years living in Finland or the total number of trips made using (A permit) I would appreciate if someone could enlighten me on this. Thanks in advance.nicnet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 1:17 pmOk - I found 49 trips in my records for the last 5 years.yrtti wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:38 pmIt's within the last 5 years, same as the employment info you are asked to provide. Re: Citizenship Application 2022
It's independent of whatever permit one may have - the question in the application does not talk about residence permits.
I'm not sure quite what they are after with this question.
I suppose "are you really living in Finland" is one, but then why would they want to know even about "short European trips"?
Also perhaps to check the criminal records on those countries you've visited ...

And what’s the exceed limits of these trips altogether. Are trips inside the EU relevant for this counting or not?
Re: Citizenship Application 2022
According to my calcs, I've been away 217 out of the last 1826 days (5 years) - 12% of the time. So is this over the "limit"?Stone360 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 1:54 pmnicnet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 1:44 pmIt's independent of whatever permit one may have - the question in the application does not talk about residence permits.

Does the fact that I've been permanent resident in FI for the last 22 years have any bearing?

Re: Citizenship Application 2022
The UK usually processes them in 6 months.yrtti wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:38 pmCan you name a country that processes these applications more quickly?hellofelicia wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 2:51 pmI'm not the poster but why shouldn't we expect that the applications are dealt with in a timely manner? expecting that the applications are processed without unjust delays is reasonable.
But I'm not comparing it to other countries, I am comparing it to Migri's own processing times. There are messages on this very forum showing that a couple of years ago applications were routinely processed in 6-7 months, which has almost doubled today. Either the profile of an average applicant has changed so significantly over 2-3 years, which I doubt, or Migri has not managed to keep up with the demand.
Re: Citizenship Application 2022
So got my YKI results Friday last week, started filling in the application. Done except for a letter from work.
Tried to book the document checking "interview" - next free time in Helsinki in November.
Eventually booked one in Turku for September.
Anyone got a work around for this, or is it just another delay ....

Re: Citizenship Application 2022
It doesn't. There's an option for a more thorough background check in the Nationality Act but it's not written as a mandatory requirement.yrtti wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:38 pmThe process requires a complete background check, including one from the country in which passport you submitted in your application. Re: Citizenship Application 2022
Try to check the appointments page frequently (few times a day). There are few last minute cancellations. I got my appointment that way. You might get lucky and get an appointment tomorrow or this week itself. If you don't mind travelling, usually Rovaniemi has more free slots.nicnet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 4:45 pmSo got my YKI results Friday last week, started filling in the application. This is not conducive to a dialogue. People can already find all the answers on the official news channels. They come here to discuss and sometimes vent, which is fine.
You can always respectfully share knowledge or ideas.
Without being condescending.
