"Did you arrive in Finland without getting a residence permit in advance?". If I choose "yes" the waiting time is up to 26 months. If I choose "no" it is up to 16 months. Why there is such a big difference? The first is for refugees, the second for all others?
Not quite.
I came to Finland without a residence permit 20 years ago, and I wasn't refugee.

Just to wait It would be unfair for those thousands Who are waiting.Good luck
I find this kind of reply very ironic seeing as you are the one complaining the loudest about having to wait.
Or do you think you are the only one waiting a long time?

The average Somali and Iraqi costs Finland €12,000 per person, per year.

Not sure why it posted 3 times in a row.

In other news. I was bored, so I made a bot that asks the chatbot for my queue number daily lol. Then sends it to Slack at 9am.

Mine took almost 6 months. I got accepted today.
Crazy. Really just crazy. Some are waiting like 2-3 years and others get it in half a year. I am now really convinced that those who are waiting these year long times either:

1. Wrote terrible application
2. Wrote on paper (which always takes longer)
3. Were missing tons of documents
4. Took months to identify themselves and actually start the process
5. Likely had some other extraneous circumstances that prevented the process starting for a long time

It makes sense that Migri simply ignores applications that no one wants to do. Also if you are from a "bad country" it likely takes longer as they ask the local police for a background check first before accepting. So it could also be that the police for your home passport is taking forever with that too.

Still, I feel like everyone should have to wait at least minimum 1 year :D that is how it is in many other countries. 1 year wait should be rite-of-passage.

Could someone tell me which countries are on the list? I checked Migri's site, I couldn't see any list.
Good luck asking this question. Everyone asks always and no one @#$% replies ever :D
I don't think there was ever any list of countries. I think people made it up. I have also looked everywhere on Migri's site and there was nothing, even in waybackmachine that processing times were different for some countries.

Did someone experienced loosing a job while waiting for a citizenship? If the current residence permit is work based
If you lose your job, they will cancel/deny your application. It states quite seriously that to apply for citizenship you need a valid permit, your permit becomes invalid as soon as you lose your job. No permit, no citizenship.

1.4.2022 sent my application
20.4.2022 visit to migri
5.10.2022 email from migri "Your application is waiting to be processed – supplement the application"
7.10.2022 stage 2
11.10.2022 positive decision
I have not received any SMS or email notification that the decision is ready. :-o
Another really quick one. Kind of gives me hope I will get an answer before the end of the year.

They have removed but they still applying it at back door. Migri sometimes treat some of the applicants inhumane . Waiting for almost 20months and no response from them🤦🏽‍♂️
It's really not Migri's fault if a country is so corrupt that government doesn't care about making even basic things like passports properly...

I am not sure hiring a lawyer can help to get more response. At least we deserve to know why it is taking so long.
Why would you hire a lawyer? Citizenship is a privilege that you earn, not a right. If you tried to sue they would just laugh at you.

This shows how really uninformed you are or you deliberately chose to be ignorant of the facts.

Yes, about few years back, the list of countries were public on Migri website. And you saying those waiting for longer years did a bad application also pointed out how superficial you think because according to this people who got theirs in less than a year are better off, right?

If I tell you my situation, Migri should respond to my application within 3 months. I have been employed for the past 7 years, never relied on kela, I am married to Finnish Spouse and have kids, I own an apartment, never received a fine for all my years living here. And I have been waiting for over 20 months with my application not yet opened. So the only thing I could point out to for the delay is my country is on the list (list currently has been removed from Migri website)

Hi everybody,

I am new at this forum and I would like to share my details.

Came here in 2017 as a student and from 2019 I am on type A residence permit. In May 2022 I applied for citizenship ( still there were 3 months to complete 4 years residence period) and my son also applied as co-applicant. When I applied my queue number was something like 7700. In September October queue started to move fast for me. I had a trip planned for 5 days in October which unfortunately got extended for another week (everything related to that trip like extension etc. I informed migri as a supplement). So while I was abroad I received an automatic e-mail asking to submit details on my travel and means of financial support for the last 5 months. Next day before I could submit my details my status changed to stage 2. I returned back Finland last Saturday and informed migri via enterfinland that I am back home. However, since that day already a week passed I have not received any information from them neither my status has changed. However, there is this kind of issue that might hold me for quite a long time in stage 2, my son's residence permit expired in the end of October and we have applied for extension in September and now most probably they are just waiting his residence permit extension, which does not sound logical. Hence, I wanted to ask is there anyone who received citizenship before pending residence permit extension is approved.
My country is not in the list.
Thank you for your replies.

That fella spewed so much ignorance I don’t even think it’s okay to engage him. He’s only gonna come back with further condescending attitude. I’d urge you to disregard him.

Hi, there must be a valid permit on the moment of the decision about citizenship.

Question: How exactly did you notify Migri about your traveling via enterfinland?
