Hey everyone!
My husband started working in Finland in January 2022 so he is there for more than a year now. We are married for 11 years (customary marriage) we have a 4 year old autistic son together. I applied for my spouse residence in November 2022 and went to the embassy on 2 December 2022 in South Africa. Can anyone tell me who also applied for their spouse and child RP recently if:
1. they actually had to wait for 9 months for their RP?
2. Can I cancel my application in my country (and how?) and then apply again in Finland?
We miss him so much and my son is starting to lose his bond with his father and I just want us to be together again. 1 year apart is a very long time and has been very difficult for my autistic son as he does not understand whats going on.

Right now the Migri website says 6 months and predicts that you will get the RP in June, but processing times are not reliably predictable.Shidi181 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:26 pmMy husband started working in Finland in January 2022 so he is there for more than a year now. Yes, but I don't think that would be advisable in your case.
You anyway need a visa if you want to travel to Finland before you have been granted a RP, you can visit for 3 months as a tourist without restarting the waiting time (and paying again) for the RP.

Thank you for your advice, I think I will wait until June and see what happens

I got a message from migri requesting additional information, I have sent through all documents and see that my application is now in progress (step 2) how long does one usually wait for a decision when in progress? I am now 364 in the queue will I still wait until I move closer to the front of the queue?

Is it really possible to apply in Finland though? According to Ulkomaalaislaki its only family members of Finnish citizens (and a few other cases) who can apply in Finland. I would like to get verification about this if somebody knows, since I have been wondering. Thanks.
