Applied: December 22.
visited Migri: January 23. Queue no was 6553
5.6 : moved to stage 2 around 12:50 and an hour later got positive decision. Queue no was 4230 the morning when I checked.

Thanks to the people who posted their experiences here. I learnt a lot. Good luck to everyone 🍀
Excellent news, congratulations! I'm in a very similar situation, applied in early January, still waiting for a decision, at a similar queue number now. Could you share which service point you visited to confirm identity?

Thanks for voting me :D I also forgot to mention that in December I got stage 2, and it hasn't changed since then. I have a mess with my info in population register, though I clarified it, they haven't yet checked my clarification submissions for 5 months already.

Hello Juls, hope you are doing well, can you share light on the issue you had in the population register which might be delaying your application.....Its for education purpose

Congratulations! Another speedy decision. Can only hope that it augurs well for the rest of us
Likely it's because they applied after the automation was brought in from June 2022.

Applied in 03.2022
queue number 22XX, still stage one :|

Queue today: 20xx. Stage 1.
Place your bets which of us gets answer first! I vote juls (if they didn't get an answer already). Due to applying after automation started.

Next week is 18 months exactly since I applied. I think anyone before 06.2022 is going to be waiting at least 18-24 months.
Most people seem to have got their stage 2 announcement with queue number >1800 and mine is almost there. So if I'm lucky ~2 more months.

Hi! So idk why but it says that on the 1st year of my studies, when I arrived to Finland, I was still living in my home country and didn't have permanent residence in Finland.

I remember sending the notification of arrival/of movement, and I have argued with a lady in Maistraatti back in the days, because my studies last more than 1 year --> I should be registered permanently in my residence in Finland. But for some reason I was not even registered for the whole year, then registered temporarily for 3 months, then 6 months without any residence again... as the population register says. It just blows my mind, since I was living in the same apartment in Finland and didn't make any changes! Bureaucracy...

Finally, it is my time to say goodbye to this forum after almost 19 months.
I applied and proved my identity on 18.11.2021
Sent a valid request to expedite processing on 5.6.2023 with a document to support.
My application went to processing on 7.6.2023 and 4 hours later I got a positive decision.
My queue number started around 7200 and it was 1626 when I got the decision.

I am not sure if my application will be anyway processed soon without the request as there are some people in the forum who applied in October/November 2021 getting the decisions now. When I called in April and asked about processing time, they mentioned that my application type may take up to 27 months.

My case is a straightforward case without any problems. I arrived here as a Master's student with a valid passport and resident permit. I have been also employed since 2016. I have Permanent Residency since 2021. Currently, I work as a Software Engineer for a Finnish company. I have never received any unemployment benefits or any other benefits and I don't have any loans etc. I have been paying taxes here since 2016. I am from a South Asian country, and my country is not on the list.

It has been 19 long months with lots of anxiety and stress. The process feels so unfair when you have to wait 19 months when others in the same situation get it in 3-4 months . This forum has been a great source of support to get some insight into the Migri process which is not transparent at all.

I wish you all the best and good luck!

Most of us are coming from developing countries like ours, and we already have gone through many hurdles to be in the same positions compared to our Finnish colleagues. I wish you all the strength to keep going to overcome this one last hurdle. :rose: :rose:

Could you share, what was the reason that you stated and what document? Is it something from your finnish employer?
Did you send it via email?

Congrats!

Time to say goodbye!

Applied 9.11.2021
Stage 2 4.5.2023
Decision 9.6.2023

The decision is positive 🤩
Congrats and thanks for sharing the time-line! Hopefully those of us who have been waiting 18 months, it's just around the corner.

Another big congrats. Would like to know what your reason was for expediting the process. I think most of us have tried a few reasons and they always get shot back and simply say "Not a valid reason, please be patient".

I did get one reply from Migri once saying "Hey we checked over your application, including your documents and there is nothing we require at this stage except that you wait." So they admit they looked at it, but didn't actually move it to stage 2 or start working on it. Basically that time they ignored my request and again just said "Keep waiting". If I get to 24 months I'll start to push a little harder.

I still recommend that those who are absolutely fed up with waiting and have been doing so for at least 24 months, contact the Ombudsman and submit a case about it. At the very least, it should bump you far up the queue.

How did you send your request? Via general email or internal message?

I got reply from Migri that the waiting time for my application is 27 months.. I identified myself 6 months ago. That sounds scary..
