Does your application belong to the category where it takes time to process citizenship? For example, if you don't currently have a valid national passport and you arrived in Finland without a residence permit.RandomDude wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 9:10 pmAlmost 16 months in, queue number 197x, stage 1.37yqp8098y5 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 4:38 pmMy number is slightly under yours. Let's see who gets it first. I'm surprised your number is so low as you applied a lot later than me too. This is another reason why I don't believe the number matters at all.RandomDude wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:21 pmWould be great, however there are a bunch of people waiting 20+ months![]()
I have seen cases where students in Finland receive their decisions within 6-8 months, not only for citizenship but also for residence permits and permanent residency early.

The only complication is my Russian nationality, the rest is pretty straightforward.Guess.who wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:46 pmDoes your application belong to the category where it takes time to process citizenship? No, that's for a regular, fixed term residence permit. I have a permanent residency and that generally can't be taken away unless you move away from Finland for a long time.nikskate wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 8:28 pmBut isn't it that once you are divorced, your permit is not valid anymore due to changes in grounds of residence permit? Like in this case, permit is based on family ties.FinlandGirl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 4:23 pmYou did not apply for citizenship based on family ties, you applied based on having a valid permanent residence permit and sufficient time living in Finland.MandieLynn wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:46 amDoes anyone know if it matters if you applied for citizenship based on family ties (spouse),
"If the family tie no longer exists, a residence permit granted on that basis will not necessarily be extended. It is also possible that your residence permit currently in force will be cancelled."

Does anyone know or understand the reason behind the dairy number?
My dairy number is 72XX/310/2023, and the applicant queue is 7100+.
At the same time, I just checked a random dairy number that comes after mine, which is 77XX/310/2023, and the application queue is 2100+.
What is the logic here? Do they have different queues based on application differences?
Has anyone recently received such a short application queue?
Any insights ?

Correct, your number in the queue is with other applications that are like/similar to yours.Guess.who wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 8:37 pm

No need to be worried. Yes, some people get their decisions quickly, others not. One reason in your case MIGHT be that migri is waiting for information from your home country. Who knows? Try not to worry too much, and "enjoy" the fact that your application is at least moving forward. I applied in August 2022 and am still waiting for processing.karhu86 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:24 pmHi everyone,

Hi, joining the thread. Made the application yesterday, visited Migri today.
My background: EU citizen, 4 years of residence (applied for shortened required residency time based on language skills), Finnish spouse, full-time employee.
I’ll check my queue number tomorrow.

Work to draft the citizenship knowledge test has begun: https://yle.fi/a/74-20041800 (in English) and https://yle.fi/a/74-20041566 (suomeksi).
I wouldn't expect the test to be finalized quickly, as there's bound to be some discussion about the questions themselves. Still, this shows that Finland is moving to align its citizenship practices with those of other countries with similar tests in place.
Remains to be seen when the test becomes mandatory. I wonder if they'll be revamping YKI as well?
