Re: Citizenship Application 2023
As I said earlier, without insider knowledge, it's hard for us on the outside to know why some applications are processed quickly, and why others seem to languish. I've often wondered if the "easier" applications are pulled from the queue for training purposes for newer migri staff.Scotabroad wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 5:17 pmI don't know why I would be in the lengthy processing queue. My country is not on the list, I have a valid passport, always had the correct permits, have a Finnish spouse and children and have been here 5 years. The only thing I can think of is my income/work situation, I've mainly been a stay-at-home parent here and relied on my spouse, although I've made a small amount from my own business in the last couple of years and have some rental income from my home country. I haven't claimed anything from Kela except child benefits though, and I've paid my taxes and don't have any debts.Guess.who wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 11:53 amYour application should have received a decision by now.Scotabroad wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 6:26 pm
Thanks!I applied and had my meeting in January 2023, still sitting in stage 1 and queue number 37xx (it was about 69xx at the beginning). The queue number was going down by 400-500 per month at first but since the summer it's slowed to 100 or less per month, which is driving me a bit crazy...
Currently, they are processing applications for June 2023, and the latest someone has posted about receiving a decision on June 15, 2023 (Migri visit and applied a day before).
The decision was served at the 50XX queue. If you haven't received a decision between the 4000~5000 queue, it might take some time to process the application.
Is there a specific reason in your case for such lengthy processing? Is your country on the list?
Did you arrive in Finland without a prior residence permit (RP)?
Do you have a valid passport?
Is this a refugee case?
Do you have a Finnish Permanent Residence permit?
I frankly wouldn't worry too much about the time it's taking. Life goes on. I have an extended four-year residence permit, and I'm confident that I'll have a decision on my citizenship application by next spring.
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
My observation: Nowadays, Migri is quite active, and the application queue is moving at a fast pace, approximately 140-170 applications per week in the past few weeks. Additionally, they have started processing citizenship applications on Saturdays as well.
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
I remember only one person said that their application was processed on Saturday, isn't it?Guess.who wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 12:11 pmMy observation: Nowadays, Migri is quite active, and the application queue is moving at a fast pace, approximately 140-170 applications per week in the past few weeks. I've checked multiple weekends and it looks like my queue number does not change during that time, only on workdays.
Do you have any changes in your queue number on Saturday?
My queue moves for about 30-40 each week. Current queue is 35XX
P.S. I keep in mind that queue numbers update during night time. So it is only possible to check your queue number on the next day.
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
migri is generally a strange organization. I created an application on 11.07. my daughter on the same day, but our numbers in the queue and movements in the queue are more different .

I'm not sure why you can't see the significant drop in the queue number. I assume it's mostly because you have passed the fast track processing zone of 4000-5000 in the queue (5-8 months).
For the last three Saturdays, I have observed small drops in the queue. It's not the same as weekdays, around 30-40, but an average of 8-10 in the queue. Again, I assume this is due to it being a Saturday (half working day).
In the month of November alone, my application queue dropped from 5835 to 5535 (a difference of 300 numbers).
Hope this helps!

Yeah, looks like your queue moves faster than mine.
Anyway, it is a good thing if they started to process applications on Saturdays. The faster they process people in the 4000-5000 zone the sooner they will move to other applications.
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Actually I am waiting for 15th month, so my queue number is 285x and I have observed that moving from 4600 to 3000 was super slow, while moving from 3100 to 285x has happened in a matter of couple or three weeksanother_one wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:07 amGuess.who wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 10:51 amHi there!

I applied in August 2022, so I guess I can expect a decision in five or six months from now.
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Based on my observation, if your application is not picked up for processing in the 4000-5000 queue (5-8 months), the next stop is the 1500-2000 queue (16-20 months). Alternatively, you might get lucky in between!
Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Hi! I applied on 12.10.22, visited migri on the same day. The application has moved to phase 2 immidiately after the migri visit, so I have been in the phase 2 for about 13 months. Has anyone had similar situation and is this normal? Migri just replies to wait and that the application is fine. Currently I am ~3100 in queue.

Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Never heard of such before, but maybe others can chime in here? My guess is someone at migri inadvertently hit the "processing" button after your application landed in the queue. Maybe there's no way for them to send it back to stage 1, so they left it as is.m02b06 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:29 amHi! I applied on 12.10.22, visited migri on the same day. I applied in 8/22 and am still in stage one (and 26xx in the queue).
