the actual processing is considered to be done when an application enters stage 2. Meaning that only then it is checked agains current laws/rules.If at that point the laws are new then they consider that application to not suit existing laws and they reject it.
For the language test part of the citizenship requirement they apply the law that was in place at the time of the language test. For example before 2012 you could not combine certificates, so certificates issued before then cannot be combined (even if the same results now would pass if you combined the certificates).
Even more bizarrely the pass mark used to be level 4 (before 2002) and if your certificate is from before 2002 then you need level 4 for citizenship instead of the level 3 you need now. So a 2001 level 3 certificate would not be acceptable but a 2003 level 3 certificate would be.

Hi! Thank you very much for all the insights! Could you please explain what real_seq_first means?
Yeah, field names are a bit ugly.
It is just sequence number of an application.
Since I am gathering data over multiple years I need to align those applications to have some sequential numbers.

Here is an example:
diary_number_____sequence_number
1/310/2021______________1
2/310/2021______________2
3/310/2021______________3
1/310/2022______________4
2/310/2022______________5
3/310/2022______________6
1/310/2023______________7
2/310/2023______________8
3/310/2023______________9

You see that the first number in the diary number starts from 1 each year.
Ah this makes sense! Thank you for the clarification!

2) i have been here for 11 years and i can assure you since then the parliament had been trying to change the citizenship law. remember all of these are still proposals, and they will be voted on. so things can easily change. when proposed by the perussuomalainen, they had an alliance with the keskusta party, but now things are not going well between them, so the new law can easily fail to pass
Would you please post a news link about what you said about the relationship between perussuomalainen and kokoomus? Thank you in advance!

Where can you guys see your queue number on Enterfinland? All I can see is:

"
Customer number: 23xxxxx
Diary number: 17xxx/310/2023

1 Waiting for processing (in green)
"

Below is a notification that my application has been put into the queue, but without any specific number. Is this normal?

You have to ask the kamu chatbot. It’s one of the first options it gives you when you open it up. You give it your diary number and it tells you your position in the queue.

Hi

I’ve noticed that these days Migri is quite active for the old applications: I have been in the process almost 17 months and the queue didn’t move significantly over past 3 months, but now I’ve noticed that the queue has started moving at 15 places/day, which is a nice progress. My queue number now is 254x, which is already a great progress

Same for me, my application moves significantly faster than in December.
Queue position is 3XXX.

Maybe Migri started to process applications which are actually in the head of the queue?

I can confirm. When I checked last week, I was at 24xx. There seems to be more movement these days. Fingers crossed, though I'm not expecting any miracles.

Thank you for the clarification. I just wonder, how queue number changes once decision is made? I mean, are there only active applications on the Kamu-bot graph you post here?
And one more thing based on what guys just texted above, could you please make statistic for this week to see if it's really so that decisions are mostly made for applications under 2XXX-3XXX queue number?

I also felt 15 applications drop in 48xx queue... Hope they are processing now different queue (my observation they have 3 internal queues, and they process every x-months each of them). If this is the case, we will see less 5 months applications approved, but more old one for a while, after that again 5-months, and shift to a new queue.

What will happen to some applications like me which are not very old and also passed 5 months 😂?
