Well everyone, my day has come.

Diary number: 107XX/310/2023
Submitted: 15 August 2023
Migri appointment: 30 August 2023
Approved: 7 February 2024
Queue number: 52XX

Thanks for getting me through the past few months and best of luck to those still waiting!
Congratulations! May I ask which city's migri center you submitted your application at?
I submitted my application in Helsinki, but I was under the understanding that it doesn't matter.
Congrats! City indeed does not matter, country of origin ... well imo not much either (the question though).. Could you pls share the grounds of residence when you applied for citizenship (entrepreneurship, work, family ties etc...)?

Hi, I want to ask you guys about asylum and citizenship applications. Does the asylum citizenship application process always take a long time? I applied a month ago, and my queue number was 6235. However, my queue number is going up every day, never going down. Today it's 6288. I am not from listed countries. I heard it takes a long time to start the process, but does anyone know someone who obtained citizenship through asylum in less than two years?

Does having permanent residence speed up the citizenship process, or does it take the same amount of time as for those who have a residence permit?

Having PR is not a requirement for citizenship right now, but might change in the future. So, it doesn't affect anything.

It is possible like 50%, especially, if your case if very simple, you are not from unfriendly countries etc.

p.s. my family is Finnish as well, I wait 7 months already

Does anyone know if the citizenship applications are processed centrally or processed by the migri center where submitted?

This morning I've received an email from migri... My heart skipped a beat thinking that the application moved to the second stage after about 1 month wait :D Pardon my naivety... It was just to inform that there is a backlog with the processing of citizenship applications

Do they send this informative email every month or is it specific for this busy period they are having?

Whelp, 7 weeks and I just made it to the 79XXs! (Celebrating the small victories) :P
I think I started somewhere between 8300 - 8500 during second week of December.
Maybe the OGs can comment if that's normal progress or not?
At least I know my immediate jump to stage 2 is not normal..
2 months in and now in the 7700's

Going to be interesting to see if these next 2 months will be any different in pace. Considering that there's no Christmas break, etc.

Finally my time has come too!

Application submitted: 12.8.2023
Migri visit: 25.8.2023 in Tampere
Customer number: 104xx/310/2023

Application went to stage 2 on 2.2.2024 and about hour later I got a positive decision!
Queue number at the time of decision: 54XX

I came to Finland to study six years ago, studied for 3,5 years, started working almost immediately after graduation in the same specialty as studies. Originally have a Russian citizenship.

Might be useful for some: I got the decision on Friday afternoon and on Saturday had a planned trip abroad (had notified migri about it but I guess they don’t really consider your upcoming trips). As you know, once the citizenship decision is made, the residency permit is immediately cancelled. So I was basically left without a travel document and I wouldn’t have time to get even an express passport.

So I called the police and explained my situation to them - they told me that there is such thing called temporary passport (väliaikainen passi) that you can get in 10 minutes at the police station and it works as a travel document to most EU countries and some others (need to check). They even can print it in the Helsinki airport’s police station. So I got my temporary passport and could finally celebrate the citizenship!

And thanks for the extra info. For sure it could help someone!

Do you by chance remember your beginning que number?
