Hi everyone, I applied at the end of January 2024. I was so happy when my queue number was 62xx, but it never gets lower; it always goes up. Is this normal?
Yes, it usually goes up during the first month or so

I’m afraid thats the slow line. Have you come to Finland with refugee status or without a residence permit?

What should someone needs to do, if she/he got a negative decision after a long waiting? re-apply or appeal or wait for certain time before re-apply again?story saver
Appealing can be a worthwhile step, with a good chance of success based on my research. However, consulting an immigration lawyer is highly recommended. Typically, if there's an issue, they advise resolving it before reapplying. For instance, I recall a case in the 2023 thread on page 75 involving a loan from Kela. Depending on the severity of a crime, there may be a waiting period before reapplication, unless it's a major offense like murder, where citizenship becomes a secondary concern. 😂

Thanks for the clarification!

As far as I remember, this is a second confirmation that the red queue is for people who came to Finland as refugees/under international protection.

Would be good to figure out what the green one is for just out of curiosity and to better understand some of Migri's internals.

In my case, is it normal for the queue number not to go down? I couldn't understand the queue numbers. If someone applies after me, why are their numbers lower than mine? I don't understand why my queue number doesn't go down. do you have any idea ?

This is because there is no obvious system for assigning diary numbers. As I understand it, people who applied for citizenship in 2023 but visited Migri in 2024 get diary number from 2023 (****/310/2023). I know this because when I collect diary numbers from the Kamu chat bot, I still get new diary numbers from 2023 from time to time. So I think it's just people who applied earlier than you, but visited Migri later than you. (not fact, just my guess)

Really interesting data along with experiences / theories shared here.

I am less than 3 months in and I am approximately 1/4 mark on the application time-line.

Que started in 8500's now I am in the 7400's. I think there is some logic to the "fast" and "slow" ques. It seems as though I may be in the fast que while others, even with lower que numbers, may be in the slower que.

Perhaps que numbers really are not a good way to guestimate one's progress, but the actual timeline progression movement is perhaps a better indicator.

To further support the multiple line theory, I have played with the status of random diary numbers, and have even seen my exact que number with a different progression mark on the time line.

-------
To the above person with the increasing que but lower number than me - could you please tell how far your progression mark on the timeline has moved since the starting period?

Actually, I checked some numbers from "red" queue and it's seems so that all queue doesn't really progress.
Here the output of queue numbers for somebody who applied for citizenship in September:
Queue numbers for diary number 11644/310/2023:
Date: 2023-09-22, Queue Number: 5845
Date: 2023-09-29, Queue Number: 5842
Date: 2023-10-06, Queue Number: 5835
Date: 2023-10-09, Queue Number: 5836
Date: 2023-10-16, Queue Number: 5840
Date: 2023-10-23, Queue Number: 5844
Date: 2023-10-30, Queue Number: 5855
Date: 2023-11-07, Queue Number: 5855
Date: 2023-11-13, Queue Number: 5855
Date: 2023-11-20, Queue Number: 5852
Date: 2023-11-27, Queue Number: 5853
Date: 2023-12-04, Queue Number: 5857
Date: 2023-12-11, Queue Number: 5856
Date: 2023-12-18, Queue Number: 5854
Date: 2023-12-25, Queue Number: 5846
Date: 2024-01-01, Queue Number: 5848
Date: 2024-01-03, Queue Number: 5842
Date: 2024-01-08, Queue Number: 5835
Date: 2024-01-15, Queue Number: 5829
Date: 2024-01-22, Queue Number: 5833
Date: 2024-01-29, Queue Number: 5825
Date: 2024-02-13, Queue Number: 5826
Date: 2024-02-18, Queue Number: 5825
Date: 2024-02-20, Queue Number: 5824
Date: 2024-02-21, Queue Number: 5825
Date: 2024-02-22, Queue Number: 5825
Date: 2024-02-23, Queue Number: 5825
Date: 2024-02-27, Queue Number: 5825
Date: 2024-02-28, Queue Number: 5819
Date: 2024-02-29, Queue Number: 5818

So I guess even so there is new applications with diary numbers from 2023, it doesn't really matter for people in red queue.

so all of these information are just based on people's guesses and experiences, not actually based on any facts or approved information by Migri? because I have seen many different cases ( students, married to a Finn, work, refugees or even those who had income from Kela, etc ) with absolutely different results! knew someone who didn't have a job and income, got his decision in 8 months! another one who came to Finland as a PHD student with a stable situation, having a job, income, not in the listed countries , has been waiting for 24 months! so you can't compare your case with others, no matter what! there is definitely not a logical explanation or a fixed pattern for this process, it is totally unknown. I just know everyone's case is different and unique and for sure there are so many details and factors that they check and follow. of course there are obvious factors which are slowing down the process such as Ukraine war, lack of enough employees in Migri, etc. I read on Migri's website that: * at the beginning the queue numbers might go up or down or even don't change which is normal! Don't worry about it * . so why would you think this can happen only for applicants with refugee status?

I've made some fixes/improvements to my graph, so it will look a bit different.
Thank you for the information, very appreciated. What is the Y-axis?

I've made some fixes/improvements to my graph, so it will look a bit different. But I will not jump into details to avoid messing your heads with unnecessary complexity

This week's stats:
Total processed: ~185
Total processed above threshold: ~129
Processed above threshold to total processed ratio: ~0.70
Processing median: ~11421/310/2023
New applications created: ~169

In general, nothing new
Image
I have a guess that processes between 4000-5000 are just the ones who went to the second stage during the sweet spot but took long to process, because I have noticed these applications remain in the queue until it finalizes.

Would it be possible for you to make an estimation of what is the exact sweet spot in the queue where applications move to the second stage? It seems that it is at around 5300-5400 right now but that’s only my guess.
