I hope business trips (generally for 1-4 days each time) are OK here. Or there is also issue?
I have applied in october end 2023 and had 100's of business trips in last 11 years.
As long as your travels were listed under "The following periods of absence from Finland do not interrupt your continuous period of residence:" here: https://migri.fi/en/how-to-calculate-th ... -residence , it should be all good and they shouldn't be able to use it against you.

Even as a native English speaker I found that page hard to understand. I'm still not 100% sure that the four month total holidays in the past two years limitation only applies to those who have "interruption" or to everybody. You have to rely on the indenting being correct to understand if it's for everybody or only some people.

>>Holiday trips abroad are allowed but there is a limit for their durations: In total, you may spend four months outside Finland during the two years preceding the decision on your citizenship application<<
Accumulated period of residence in Finland
If there is an interruption in your continuous period of residence in Finland, an accumulated period of residence will be calculated for you.
Your accumulated period of residence may consist of several periods during which you have lived in Finland.
You must have lived in Finland for at least seven years in total. In some situations, six years of accumulated period of residence is sufficient.
You must have lived in Finland for the past two years without interruption, meaning that you have not moved away from Finland during that time.
Holiday trips abroad are allowed but there is a limit for their durations: In total, you may spend four months outside Finland during the two years preceding the decision on your citizenship application.

Quite interesting. I know a case of my friend who studied double major in other EU country as well and certainly spend like some 5-6 months outside Finland. Still got decision after 5 months and a half.

4 months total thing is only for "accumulated".

Need to read this on top: "whether you have lived in Finland for a continuous period or whether there have been interruptions in your residence.
If your continuous period of residence in Finland has been interrupted, you need to calculate your accumulated period of residence."

I can see how it can be confusing though.

I find it really funny how migri monitors your travels to decide whether you have established connections with Finland or not. I know a guy who came here for a job, applied after 4 years, got the citizenship and moved to another country 😂😂😂
Seriously sometimes i just wonder about migri's logic

It is pretty standard in many countries to check how much you travel before getting citizenship. As an example, even Australia immigration does the same. It’s even worse there. Even when you have permanent rp in australia, you can essentially lose your rights to travel after five years, unless you apply for another kind of visa just to travel outside and get in again (which is expensive) or get citizenship. But yes immigration rules in many countries can be really difficult. I hope we all get citizenship decision soon!

For those who have gotten a decision, did your Migri reminder email change during the month that you finally moved to In Progress? I received a different email today and I'm wondering if it is a sign that I will move to In Progress very soon. Thanks.

No, they send that "different one" once in 6 months

That's good to hear. This one is for my partner and child who applied and presented at Migri in October 2023 and are now 55xx on the queue.

How does the "different email" look like?

What I receive today is just "Hakemus odottaa käsittelyä / Waiting for processing / Ansökan väntar på handläggning
", the same one that I receive every 4 week. I am applying by the end of October and also waiting now. Current queue is 55xx. So nervoussss.
