Hello,
One of my friend have been informed that his application will be processed in 24 months months. He submitted the application in October 2023. He asked the migri by calling. What does it mean actually? does it mean that the decision might come after 24 months or anytime in next 14 months?
Hard to say. It could be a range of time like 7 - 24 months. It is often argued that coming to Finland without a passport or resident permit often leads to such cases.
Also, some family ties based applicants and entrepreneurs have also experienced long processing times.

Thanks for sharing. How did you ask to migri? Like, you told your customer number and asked how long your application will take to be processed? Or, "what's the situation of my application?"
Because some people receives generic answers like, "it'll be procesed in 7-30 months."

I had to call twice actually. In my first call, the customer service representative said it can be tomorrow or it can be in 2 years, I cannot say. But second time I called, the person asked for my diary number and said let me check the processing time with my colleague and gave me the estimate of 2 months (applied end of Dec, 23). So, it really depends on who answer your call...some of them are more helpful it seems.
In both cases, I asked processing time of my application.

Hello,
actually my friend came to Finland for study in 2016 and got PR in this year. He was running a restaurant as an entrepreneur and now no more working in the restaurant. He is only doing delivery work now under his private company. He is not from the country that takes time for processing (even though it is an asian country)

Hello,
I hope it is true that decision might arrive anytime as we can not estimated actually when an application can be started processing. Now a days, many people are getting decision in 2 years and after two years which is so weird and frustrating.

Yea first I asked "is it possible to ask about the processing time for my citizenship application?" then the support person said yes and asked for my Customer number. She was very helpful

This is the answer I got from Migri after asking for how long it takes to open my application because I have applied the 1st of October 2023 .
Hey,
Thank you for your message. Your application is still in the queue waiting to be processed. Unfortunately, we cannot give more accurate processing time estimates than 23 months. Unfortunately, the processing of citizenship applications is currently very congested and we apologize for the long waiting time. We ask you to wait for the matter to be resolved in peace. You can monitor the processing status of your case and the processing time estimate on the website of the Finnish Immigration Service and in your electronic transaction account. Please also note that status inquiries do not speed up the processing of applications but, on the contrary, can delay the situation even more, because every message is read and processed.
Best regards / Vänliga Hälsningar
Honestly I wonder how do they tell some people your application with be open in 2 month or 3 month , while to others they refuse to give an answer .

I got the same answer from migri (your application is will take 23 months) two weeks before I got decision.
They send very general email to everyone.
I got mine after 8 months

I think they are estimating the amount of time to process based on the queue. I sent an email with my diary number and they replied that the expected processing time is 10 months.
It may also depend on who responds on the other side from Migri.
