Hello All,
Recently, my residence permit application for studies was rejected due to concerns about my means of support. While I was able to show the required amount of funds to cover my living expenses, the Finnish Immigration Service did not accept the way the funds were obtained. I sold a property that belonged to my husband to meet the financial requirements, and I wasn’t aware that this could be an issue. They stated that my means of support were not considered credible.
I have already submitted my appeal and explained the situation, mentioning that I have other assets (gold, a vehicle, and other property) that could have been used as proof of funds. I also stated that I am willing to reverse the transaction and redo it properly if necessary.
Does anyone have experience with a similar situation? What are the chances of getting a positive decision in such a case? Additionally, how long does the appeal process typically take?

Which country are you a citizen of? I suspect that the immigration authorities are a lot more strict than they used to be about issuing student visas to applicants from certain countries because of various issues that some of these students have been facing once they came here to Finland.

Hi, Thanks for replying, I am from Sri Lanka.
I am currently in a difficult position, waiting for the outcome of my appeal. At the same time, I am considering reaching out to my university to explore the possibility of deferring my studies and reapplying if the appeal decision takes longer or if it does not turn out as hoped.

The Helsinki administrative court has a current average processing time of eight months:Harshamali wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:44 amAdditionally, how long does the appeal process typically take?

If Migri agrees with your appeal, they don't have to wait this nine months to correct their decision.

OK, I guessed from your name. It seems many Sri Lankans came here during the financial troubles and and have gotten into financial difficulty because they severely underestimated the cost of living etc.. It seems they were maybe given false info. by the schools they applied to. I think they maybe a lot more strict about issuing visas at the moment becasuse of that. I am not saying that this will be the case for you and I don't want to discourage you, but be very aware of the cost of living, lack of jobs if you don't have Finnish skills etc..Harshamali wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:42 pmHi, Thanks for replying, I am from Sri Lanka.
