Could anyone with experience in entrepreneurship (either as a sole proprietor under Toiminimi or as a director of an Oy) who has applied for citizenship share their journey? How long did the processing take, and what was your experience with Migri like?

Thanks,
Ganesh
Sole proprietor here (toiminimi). Applied in August 2022, granted citizenship in August 2024. Had no contact with migri after initial application and ID visit to service point, other than sending information about travel periodically. Application went into processing in July 2024, at which point I was asked questions related to income from self-employment. Had accountant prepare docs, which I then sent to migri. Painless really, albeit long from start to finish.

I have heard the same thing in real cases (they eventually got citizenship) that Migri "hates" entrepreneurs and this slows down the process considerably.

In their response to the chancelor of Justice, Migri seemed to imply that their current practices were slow for prosessing entrepreneur applications but that they had plans to improve it going forward. Lets hope this means faster processing times for all of us in that boat going forward.

Currently, I have a toiminimi and operate as a freelancer in the arts, with the majority of my income coming from state and private grants that pay to me directly as a private person. My situation is more akin to a researcher. Anyone been in a similar position who has received their decision?

Good evening! Is there any good news from applicants in 2022? Did anyone receive a solution in December?

Hey everyone, i applied my citizenship in 03.03.2024, i did not had to visit migri since i applied through banking verification, and finally my application moved to stage 2 on 30.12.2024. a few moments later i was asked to submit additional infor about how i fiinanced my trip and they also asked about my livlihood.
i relpied by writing a whole statement explaining every thing and also sent the proofs on 02.01.2025
My diary number starts from 2***
can anyone tell me how long does it usually take on stage 2
i have not followed the process at all since i applied i never checked my enter finland portal because even thinking about it gave me major anxiety because i have anxiety issues, even i never opened the email which came to me every 4 weeks that states "my application is still waiting to be processed" so i thought its better not to even look at it or think about it.
but now when it went to stage 2 its giving me anxiety that how long is it supposed to take until i receive a decision
i have a finnish wife and i am a non eu citizen currently

May I ask what could be the possible reason they ask you avout how you financed your trips? Is it normal for them to ask this question? Or were you on income support?

I think you will receive a positive decision soon. It's still the beginning of the year, and maybe your case officer is still on vacation. If you get too anxious, you can try sending a secured message to your case officer

Can you move to work in a different country after applying for Finnish citizenship?

I will complete 5 years this April; I have passed YKI reading and speaking. I am not able to find a job in Finland. Can I move to my home country but give my friend's house as a permanent address (he is fine with it)?

Hi, today I was served with a positive decision. Non-EU citizen. Application no: 25XX
2017 Came to Finland based on studies
2022 Changed my permit to A on grounds of work
23/03/24 Applied for citizenship
03/01/25 Application went into processing
07/01/25 Citizenship granted.

The odd thing here was that a couple of months ago, I contacted migri to ask about the expected processing time for my application, to which they replied (on two separate occasions) 25 months. So I suppose if migri has told you the same, there might still be hope for your application. Thanks to this group and all of your inputs which has helped me throughout this process. Hope everyone is granted positive decisions soon. :D :D

Congratulations 👏! May I ask on which date you recieved your diary number ? I applied one day after you on 24.03.2024 and got diary number 3rd April, still waiting for processing. When I contacted migri, they told me my application can take 9-10 months.
