Citizenship application 2025

Hello everyone
I was granted a citizenship today.
Arrived in 2019, applied for citizenship on 28 March 2023
Background - entrepreneur, managing director in my own company
Altogether about 23 months of waiting for processing
2 weeks in processing stage
2 additional requests regarding my income during this stage

My child was a co-applicant and was granted citizenship as well.

I don’t remember my initial queue number.
I’m so happy that this uncertainty is finally over and I will never ever again gonna visit enterfinland

I'm entrepreneur myself, applied July 2023, so hope my time will come soon, and not in 31 month.

I get how you're feeling. If my case is any guide (self-employed), my application went into processing in the 23rd month. So, perhaps yours will do the same around June sometime.

Is this correct if you travel outside of Finland you inform migri only when you return back? At least, Report your trips form on enterfinland does not accept dates in the future.

Called migri last year they said 9 months it will come.
Went in progress: 28.02.2025
No decision no supplement. Is it normal? Any idea how long it will take?

For my application, any time I left Finland I would send them either an email migri(at)migri.fi, or use enterfinland to add a free form supplement saying I was going to be between X-Y and will return on day Y.

After I got back to Finland I would usually submit a travel update pretty much immediately.

Yes this is normal. It’s not really possible to say how long it will take in stage 2, but for example my application took 4 weeks in stage 2 before getting a decision. So no worries or stress, they likely have to reach out to external agencies (border guard, your home country, etc) and are just waiting for a response before issuing a decision. I know how stressful this waiting time is though, so try and take a step away from thinking about this if possible, and I hope you get a positive decision soon!

Yes, it was before like this, but now they have a form on enterfinland which does not accept future travel dates, so I guess travels should be reported after arrival.

I came to Finland in 2017 for my Phd and I have been working all the time (after my Phd). I had a working permit when I applied, but took PR in August.
My diary number was in June, 2024 and it went into processing today at 8 am and I got the decision around 1 pm. Non-finnish spouse and the decision was not automated.

Citizenship application supplement comes right after in progress or it can stay in progress for few days and still supplement can come? I didnt get supplement request from 15 days, not sure why it is stuck in progress and no supplement even!

4.6.2024: YKI result - Passed all sections
10.6.2024: Submitted application with minor kid
19.6.2024: Visited Migri, got diary number (58XX)
25.1.2025: My first follow-up email to Migri as I completed seven months of waiting. Got precise reply asking me to wait for another two months- Migri kept their words.
12.3.2025: Received positive decision for self and dependents. Exactly within 9 months as informed by Migri.

Previous nationality: South Asian
Came to Finland: 2015
PR since: 2020
Profile: IT
I was never unemployed. No fines/tickets/crime record either. Non-EU spouse. Not automated decision

Hi all,

I have some questions:
1) Do I need to send all pages of my passport to Migri. They ask for copy of the passport but don’t specify which page or if they need all of it.
2) Currently, I am unemployed. Does it matter for the citizenship application? I mean, I receive aid from my unemployment fund not Kela.

on 07.03.2024 it moved to the second stage, processing, and today
on 12.03.2024 we received a positive decision. I waited a total of 31 months without one day.
And my wife filed separately with the children on 05/05/2023 and together with us she received a positive decision today. her wait was 22 months. It was a very long and tedious waiting period, but it's all over. I wish all applicants patience and a good decision.
