Hello,
I have been enrolled on this e-group for quite long time but I have never posted a message here. First of all I would like to say hello to everyone here.
I have a question. After the new law about foreigners in Finland from last MAy, my question is:
- what are the papers that I need to marry in Finland?
I am sorry for the new message if it was already posted by someone else.
Thaks to everybody has time to answer.

Well, you have to get from your home country, and probably have the embassy here stamp it it is a valid one - a record stating that you are not currently married. With that document you go to the magistrate and fill in a document (the two of you) called "avioliiton esteiden tutkinta" - basically a research into the files to see you are not currently married to anyone else, not related etc. - after a week you get a 'licence' and you can then marry, there is a time limit how long the paper is valid, some months I think.
Cheers, Hank W.
