Looking for a cheap hostal in Helsinki for August 5

Post by Miguel Marron » Thu Jul 29, 2004 1:37 am

Canadian artist doing residency in Rauma to attend opening in Helsinki at CAISA. It is my first trip to Finland and am looking for an inexpensive place to stay for the night.

Thanks,

Hotel Arthur is nice, I stayed there already and it was ok for the price and very close to the trainstation.
Here in Finland, I have done everything I can to blend-in with the Finns, I've changed my hair color, wore differnet clothes, got different

Michael, I know neither of those options really cuts the mustard for "inexpensive", but it's really hard to find a cheap place in helsinki. You can try the Stadion Hostel (at the olympic stadium, quite central) at http://www.stadionhostel.com/rates.html - single rooms for under €30.

Or try:
http://www.srmnet.org/esittelyt/englsatakunta.html
http://www.hostellonnrot.com/rooms.html
http://www.erottajanpuisto.com/index.html
http://www.hostelacademica.fi/eng/index.htm

all centrally-located.

Hmmm, I just check the Arthur prices, they're a lot more than I remember. Is it still the cheapest hotel in the center?

True, they seem to have raised their prices since I was there...
