okay - for reference purposes: we moved ca. 32cubic metres of stuff 2000km (approx london - h:ki) and it cost us 5500 euros.

think about how much stuff you have, what you need, what you could replace here (ikea?!) and then work out what's cheaper....

all this has been really helpful to us. one more question: how early in advance you booked your shipping/removals company firm?

We are kind of getting stressed about all this...

Generally speaking as earlier as possible. It all depends if you have all the stuff packed and boxed. If so many companies say they can come and collect 3-4 days later. But note that doesn't mean the cargo will start its journey then - it may be stored for a few days. Word of advice about the packing. We told our shipping company a good 4 weeks before the big day, which gave as loads of time to pack. Boy did we need it. !

Following from my last note, our stuff arrived in Helsinki safely. We opted to go for AngloPacific from the UK and I can only recommend them for anyone coming London to Helsinki. They said it would take 9 days and it did.

Hi guys,

it looks like Puljula is coming to get our stuff from brighton in december. They were by far the cheapest- because we did not have a whole truck full off stuff so lot of the other companies would have charged for a whole truck.

it is getting more real now this moving business.

We used Puljula in August, including the packing service. Everything went great: good service, friendly movers and a competetive price. We were very impressed.

I tried to got a quote from Puljula. However TravelCargo.fi was much cheaper. All in service. I was very pleased.

just to add my penny's worth....like two years after that boat has sailed...we have been quoted 600 euro to move 3 cubic metres from London to Espoo with Puljula....which struck me as being ok...but let me know if you reckon I'm being shafted...

David & Minna,

Please let me know how you get on with Puljula - we're moving to Oulu from London (South) between July and September so am interested to know more on this!

My husband was thinking of renting a van over from Oulu and then we'd drive it back with our stuff, but I'm guessing it would work out just as much money-wise, if not more.

Glad to read all the other tips on here though, I'll be exploring every possibility!

..well thats that...all our trash is on the way to the great northern land

cost 750 euro for 6 cubic metres....which I thought wasn't too bad at all really...and the guys carried it down from the 2nd floor...
