Plus Size Clothing Stores?

Post by ilikepeanutbutter » Sun Feb 20, 2005 1:20 am

Since some of us are more chunky :D Does anyone know any plus size stores other than Mode XL ? I can find my size sometimes at CityMarket stores and all. Are there stores in the Vantaa/Helsinki area that are for larger women?

Thanks!
Kat

I believe that Lorella deals in "garments for the fuller figure". But the dame on the web-page is definitely not a customer. At least three or four branches in H:ki.

KappAhl and H&M both have their "generous" lines of clothing, sizes 42 and up (they have their own sections in the shops).

Adatto at Forum shopping center also sells only larger sizes for women.

I know its a bit of a "granny mode", but as Halonen can get size 64 for guys (thats Finnish 64, varies in every country, say XXXXL) off the rack (not in all, but can) so I'd suppose the ladies/sports departments might also carry the biggest of the sizes available.
Cheers, Hank W.

I thing do agree with Hank is that Halonen is that, it is like a fashion house that is about 20-50 years out of date. I went into Halonen (I think in Aleksanderinkatu) and the place looked like it was stuck in a time-warp together with markka prices and rails that could faal down at any moment.

Hi! I have found- Kappahl, Stokmann, Lindex, Lorella (It has excellent customer service), H&M, Sokos,
Forum has a Lindex, and Mark's and Spencer's. All cool places! I realised Finland is the land for everyone no matter what your shape or size!!

Sokos has a line with sizes up to 54, Gossip. It's sold at some Prisma's too. Lorella has mostly old lady stuff, but sometimes you find something nice, too. They have Ulla Popken and Zhenzi, which can sometimes have good basic stuff. Sizes up to 60 or so, depending on the brand. Then there's Zizzi, sizes to 54 to 56, but a bit more expensive. Nice, though, not for old ladies. H&M has cut down on their own plus size line, but I think Itäkeskus might still have it in the store.

And don't forget British and German webshops, many of them deliver here, too. Asos Curve has some nice, but pricey, stuff...NewLook is cheap. Evans is a bit old ladyish and overpriced, and with Yours Clothing you never know if you'll get something really good or something horrible.

Edit: Jumbo in Vantaa has a Zizzi, and they have some shops for bigger men, too. They have some kind of XL version of Dressman, and one of my friends says they have the best shirts is big sizes.

There isn't alot for larger women in Finland in general. Some of the stores mentioned have even stopped selling bigger clothes (depends on the store).

Online you can get good stuff from Ellos at reasonable prices :) I did all my clothes shopping while I lived in Finland through Ellos. It was good. Almost all the clothing fit when I bought stuff. And they always have sales and lots of variety.
