Is there any way that I can trace whether a partner has been registered as married in Helsinki?

Well, they can ask for a "draft of public records" from the magistrate. It basically states if the person is alive or dead, registered domicile, marital status and children. Then again if you want to get some other persons records theres I think a data protection act so then it gets a bit hairier. Basically a draft of the public records shows everything.
