Need some advice ...

Post by Syed » Thu Jul 07, 2005 7:32 am

Hi,

I am from Pakistan and is recently looking for a Programming Job. I can create Software Applications and Games. My main interest is games.

I showed my Resume to a few people, and all of them said to move to another country if I need to have a better future in Programming.

I am a Graduate ... and is doing Masters in Software Engineering. Few say move now and study there ... some say move after you are finished with Masters.

Now I need some advice on what to do? If I do apply for Visa ... what are the things I need to have before I apply?

And are there possiblities that any company from Finland can help me out in getting there or something like that.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Syed

Hi

I would recommend you move before the Master only if can resume your studies here at the university, prior to coming to Finland. (Apply from there).

Whithout a MSc. degree and coming from outside EU, its not easy.
But I think you should try to contact some people from Pakistan that might be living here, since they can provide you with more exact information regarding legal requirements to move here.

Good luck,
tuga

And, tu get a visa- meaning work permit - you need to have work first. As said, the best for you is to apply to do your masters. Finland has a few game houses (like who made Max Payne) and theres game houses around. they're very small though. But, if you are at the Finnish university its easier to contact those companies. however then if you need to go to some other country and they require avisa, you need to apply that separately and so forth so its not automagic, except in the Schengen area (main EU except UK 6 Ireland). What you need to do is find out where the game houses reside - physically.

Thanks for your advices ... should I apply for an educational or work permit.

I will have to work and study ... cause I am not rich enough.

And I am pretty sure salaries are higher than Pakistan ...

My main concern is not money at the moment ... I am looking for a programming job ... Money comes next after a few months ... can any of you help me out as a consultant or something. I mean providing me links or contacts ... I will really appreciate that.

I am really looking fo a programming job wether its game or application ... but I am dying to get a programming job.

Regards,

Syed

The thing is - if you read the application process - you have to have either a job first to get employment permit or study place fiorst to get a study permit - so whichever you get first. You cannot apply first. You have to have a place first.

Hank W. : I really appreciate your advice. It is better to find a job first. My priority would be to find a job first.

gon2o : I have applied at the link ... however there was no job opening for the programmer. Anyway ... the more links I can get the better.

Thanks guys ... can any one of you point me out a few more ?

Regards,

Syed
