Weekend started with a good news.

Got a text message a while ago confirming my citizenship status :D.
Applied: 14.06.2023
Visited migri: 15.06.2023
Initial queue number: 67xx (it went up first few weeks)
Last checked queue number, yesterday: 50xx

My country is not from "the list". I lived in Finland since 2013. I came here as a student, I have been working in s/w industry since I graduated.
Wow, another example of super fast processing! And you received an SMS on a Saturday? Could migri be working overtime?

Seriously though, congratulations!!!
Haha, tell me about it! Got the "processing" email at 9:00, got the "Decision made" text at 9:15. Migri never cease to amaze :D

Congratulations!!!

May I know your migri service point visit?

Has anyone else been having issues with Kamu recently? I tried to check my queue number today and it just says "Sorry, there seems to be a problem at my end." It did the same for a few hours on Friday but then worked again. I have to admit, I got excited for a moment thinking that maybe my application had been processed, but it's still in stage 1

Hi guys, my status was updated to 'In progress' about 3 weeks ago (17.10), while I was abroad. Prior to that, I had already informed Migri of my travel plan, that I would not be in Finland during 1.10-31.10.

It looks like there have been many cases when a decision is granted in a few hours after the 'In progress' status. So I'm quite curious about how my case would move forward. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Submitted my application on 25.5, visited migri on 26.5. I have not been requested to supplement any additional documents.

As per Migri “ We cannot make a citizenship decision for you if you are abroad.”

It seems you might have to wait for some time for them to reopen your case and process it. It's true that they process things within a few hours nowadays. However, if, for some reason, they put your case on hold, it's unclear how long it might take for them to get back to it.

I know of a friend whose citizenship decision was served while he was abroad, and he didn't inform Migri about it. Without any hassle, he was able to return to Finland with his valid A permit. The Finnish immigration authorities asked him a few routine questions in Finnish at the airport immigration point, and he had an easy entry without any issues.

May I know your queue number now/when moved to 2nd stage and service point visit?

Being a Finnish citizen at that point the border guard (immigration authorities is not a good term because it implies Migri) can't deny entry. However, the A permit was not valid any more (it expires when citizenship is granted). I don't recommended neglecting the duty to inform Migri as there's no guarantee everyone else will be able to manage without problems (the problems can manifest elsewhere than the border).

Welcome to the group, by the way!
Thanks! :) I applied and had my meeting in January 2023, still sitting in stage 1 and queue number 37xx (it was about 69xx at the beginning). The queue number was going down by 400-500 per month at first but since the summer it's slowed to 100 or less per month, which is driving me a bit crazy...

I understand that crazy feeling  ... I proved my identity in August 2022, queue number started at 72xx. Now 27xx, almost at 15-month mark, stage one. Looks to be the "slow" queue, position dropping by around seven places daily. Hopefully within the next six months!

Your application should have received a decision by now.
Currently, they are processing applications for June 2023, and the latest someone has posted about receiving a decision on June 15, 2023 (Migri visit and applied a day before).

The decision was served at the 50XX queue. If you haven't received a decision between the 4000~5000 queue, it might take some time to process the application.

Is there a specific reason in your case for such lengthy processing? Is your country on the list?
Did you arrive in Finland without a prior residence permit (RP)?
Do you have a valid passport?
Is this a refugee case?
Do you have a Finnish Permanent Residence permit?

Been waiting for 12.5 months now on stage 1.
Don't have any complications to my case whatsoever - valid pass, came to Finland with work permit, have been working the whole time. Country is not on the list.

I am starting to suspect that I made a mistake by applying 2 month before my 4-year residence period mark. Maybe that put me in the "slow" queue?
Any other with similar experience?

Looks like I have quite a similar experience.

I applied in the very beginning of 2023. So currently waiting ~10.5 months.
Same as you I applied ~3 months before my 4-year residence period mark assuming that it will take at least 3 months in queue.
When I visited migri to confirm my identity the worker pointed out that I've been living in Finland for less than 4 years and she said that it is my own risk to apply earlier than expected. But nevertheless she took my application without any problems.

I am still on stage 1 and I don't see any obvious complications in my case as well.

As I said before, currently migri processes quite many applications which are around 4500-500 in queue.
If you are lucky enough then you will be processed quite fast in about 5-6 months.
If not then you will have to wait for quite a while (I would assume ~10 months more).
This also describes the fact that the queue number decreases relatively fast until it reaches about 4500 queue and then queue speed decreases significantly.

My experience is similar to yours. Applied for citizenship roughly two months before completion of four-year period. It was obvious to me from reading about other people's experiences on this forum that my application would not be processed in 60 days, so I decided to "roll the dice." I, too, came to Finland with a residence permit (family ties) and a national passport. I have also been self-employed for almost the entire length of my stay here in Finland.

Without insider knowledge, it's difficult to know how applications are prioritized. It seems that lately, people who applied this summer at Malmi have been getting their decisions quickly. I applied online and visited the service point in Raisio in August 2022.

Meanwhile, life goes on :D !

Life goes on 🤣🤣 28 months 2 weeks and still stage 1. I came with student visa and national passport. Senior engineer working in big firm with very high salary. I have finn wife and 2 kids. I still don’t know why I am waiting that so long😃. I have a PR and no criminal record

I have contacted them and same copy paste message saying
” kansalaisuushakemusten käsittely on valitettavasti edelleen pahasti ruuhkautunut.

Life goes on 😅😅😅

I don't know why I would be in the lengthy processing queue. My country is not on the list, I have a valid passport, always had the correct permits, have a Finnish spouse and children and have been here 5 years. The only thing I can think of is my income/work situation, I've mainly been a stay-at-home parent here and relied on my spouse, although I've made a small amount from my own business in the last couple of years and have some rental income from my home country. I haven't claimed anything from Kela except child benefits though, and I've paid my taxes and don't have any debts.
