There was a German guy in my unit who didn't speak much finnish or english. He made it through NCO school, so I guess language issues are not everything. The good thing about the military is that they make sure even the dumbest person learns what he needs to do - I doubt you'd be the slowest person to learn how to do things. A lot depends of course on your unit and what you're trained to become. And like Reiter said, don't think about the sensibility of things done in the army - it'll just make your head hurt.
The daily pay is 3,60€ for the first six months, after that it increases. One important thing to remember is that you can't always choose six months service: if the army decides you'll serve for 12 months, that's what you're going to have to do.
