I applied in Feb 2021 and interviewed with SUPO in summer. It is mandatory to speak the language that you used to prove your language skills.
Regarding the automated messages, this is not true. You should understand that SUPO is an independent organisation and it's not the migri who asks them for an interview but they choose people and invite them themselves. So there isn't any correlation with automated messages

If I may ask, did you get your decision already or is it processing or waiting to be processed?
Do you think also that your interview with SUPO affected your processing time or decision in anyway? Kiitos

I am not sure SUPO checks documents in the early stage of process.
In the SUPO, they may start to talk Finnish or Swedish, but atleast in one case that I know for my friend they shift to English after 5 min.
I guess it depends on officer.

Looks like there is new excuses at Migri that sends only same reply or adding few months to processing time. Looks like the new processing time is 9 - 23 months again. This is really getting frustrating. I think now people are forced to apply for new permit if current one is expiring.

Faster than how long it's taking now. What I understand from reading this thread is application takes so long because identity has to be established correctly and checks are done for that purpose. And supo does that. But if supo has done that when the same person applied for residence permit, they must have these info in their records. So they don't have to do the same thing again. But I am confused as to why it's still taking so long for so many people.

Because for me, I think citizenship application is the least important application for the immigration to process and that’s why it takes so long. They are like, mmm let’s process 3-4 applications today since they keep pilling up. Even if it take 2-3years to process is not our problem. They can wait

Faster than how long it's taking now. What I understand from reading this thread is application takes so long because identity has to be established correctly and checks are done for that purpose. And supo does that. But if supo has done that when the same person applied for residence permit, they must have these info in their records. So they don't have to do the same thing again. Have you considered that SUPO has performed this check for everyone else in the queue as well? I also don't know where you base the assumption that they don't have to do the same thing again. You get elevated privileges as a citizen, so it makes sense for them to do different kinds of investigation.
Also, SUPO is not the only entity that receives requests from Migri and I don't think your understanding that the delays come from SUPO are correct.
