It's a shame there's no way for me to learn the language any other way, other than self teaching, as i literally think noone else within 100 Miles knows Finnish

(Maybe they do, but nomore than 10 people for sure)
There are quite a lot of Finnish students who spend time in England, you can bet there are always a few in Liverpool and Manchester.

Finn Guild run courses ... seems there are some at Leeds Met. http://www.finn-guild.org/pages/fg_finn ... rses.shtml They also run Finnish schools http://www.finn-guild.org/pages/fg_finn ... ools.shtml that page says there is one in Manchester
http://www.finnsunited.org.uk/

IIRC there is someone Finnish in the JohnMoores Language Faculty in Liverpool.

If you want to do a degree in Finnish, UCL in London offer several courses. See UCAS http://www.ucas.ac.uk/

Thunderstone warming up for Sonata Arctica.

Christmas present from my little darling...

Now we just have to find Amorphis gig somewhere within reasonable distance. Or perhaps Mors Principium Est...

To be eligible for UAS/polytechnics you'd need the A levels, so back to school?

Oh and yeah.. I wish i could just "do it" But i don't have a college anywhere within reasonable distance from where i live, hence why i have to get a job first, then earn enough money to move away from home.. Takes time =/

Ulverston? nice? Is tha' radged?! Ulverston's a shed... best thing about it is the eastbound lane of the A590. Note that most of Finland is like a flat version of Cumbria: outside of the main cities it's populated by parochial sheep shaggers.

Anyhow, la'l bit surprised when you wrote that there is no college near you, Barrow is only half an hour by train http://www.barrow6fc.org.uk/
Even Millom has an adult education centre, have you spoken to them?

Your old school should have had a careers advisor, if you are a recent leaver, they may be willing to help you out in telling you your options for getting further qualifications. If you want to get qualifications there are usually options, but it's down to you to put in the work.

Jotunheim, there's also this (Manchester-based) service that could help you a lot. Just call them for careers / skills advice & help for sorting out different kind of options. They've got an excellent phone helpdesk but IIRC you can also email them.

A job is always good to get. Have you checked what on-line classes are available? the offerings are increasing every year, I love taking on-line courses; no traveling and a free schedule.

Millom btw is a total shed best known for... hmmmm.... thinks to self... this 5 years that you've got in which you need to get A-levels... not to be spent at Her Majesty's pleasure, is it?!

And haha yeah, Sellafield may be the reason for the water :P

It's so wierd to here someone from Finland talk about Haverigg and Millom =s But i can asure you, my 5 years won't be spent anywhere near that prison :P

I moved away from Cumbria almost 20 years ago, and count my blessings every single day. Folks still live there though.

Manchester is OK, at least there's a bit of life there. Sheffield is well grim. Liverpool is the place to be, 2008 European Capital of Culture folks
