Thanks Laura i understand there are procedures to follow as in any other country and i also recognize that it is hard to find a job without any straight paper work and the situation is this: i am going there for the first time to meet a girl that i met here in California she's a Finn but i was hopping to get a job while in Finland to make some extra cash since i dont count with a lot of extra money at this moment but i still want to go so bad... i dont know whats gonna happen in the future between us, you know? but there's always a chance plus i like what i've heard about the country, it's just an idea! people can say it's not the first time some one tries to do this or that it is illegal or so on but hey i know it's not impossible to get away with it, im a Mexican we're just cheaters but nature jajaja  im just speaking for myself i know you probably have different ideas but hey i know its not correct i just think it would be fun and helpful if i can land a temporary job!! bueno muchas gracias por tus consejos la verdad es que quiero hacer muchas cosas que tengo pendiente, que por circunstancias de la vida no he podido realizar... me gustaria platicar acerca de tu experiencia en europa si deceas puedes escribirme este es mi correo: isma.ayala@hotmail.com

Well, theres always berry picking.

The problem is that if you decide to like it here, you going jejeje will cause you a jejeje and then 5-year deportation from Schengen = no Spain or Sweden. So I'd look at the options before you make a decision that then causes you say are married and have children but cannot come over because you were young and jejejeje.. el jefe ;)

are you coming in summer? because the berry picking seasonal work is ending by the end of summer I guess...

But I wouldn't try to find a job being illegal.... You may cry after trying :) But of course, you will not listen either me or Hank or someone wlse, just because you think that everything is gonna be just fine, doesn't matter, that you are illegal... but just keep wearing those pink glasses...

this forum is balls,

why does everyone think foreigners will ILLEGALLY be looking for work in Finland?

This forum is not balls - people just tend to leave this at home as its not allowed in check-in luggage:

Its always the truth anywhere you go to foreign places - the locals know it better ;)

I don't think everyone thinks that at all.
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Because they do not figure out the process until explained many times. If you do not do it by the book, you are illegal. And I shudder to think how many never wander into any forum and instead come and presume to work A-OK without having any idea of how system works in Finland. Or alternatively ignore the advice and go ahead assuming they know how the stuff works.

Grand price is deportation if/when caught and gaining realisation that assumption was wrong.

i really wonder if everyone in here goes by the book all the time :?: also the capacity of wonder or the
fact of a new idea doesn't make you stupid or brainless it is very stupid to think so... like i said before i understand the difference between a local and a foreigner but i will never understand arrogance...
thanx again for all the advises and comments!!

Not sure of there, but going by the book is almost religion here. That is the big thing... You may presume that you can somehow go around the edges of the rules because that is how things work at home.

But Finland is not like your home. It has it's own culture and way of working. One of those oddities is that rules tend to be followed at least in bureaucratic sense.

If rules say you have to do ABC, you have to do ABC. No cutting corners and going from A to C without stopping at B. That is what we are trying to explain to people.

In short, never ever presume that things work out the way you think. Always triplecheck how they go in reality. Ignorance of rules is no excuse over here. You get smacked in the head with them if you are caught breaking them. And that gets you jejejeje deported.

While in other cultures, people can smile when someone outsmarts the "system".
Here, people consider it "not done". You can easily loose the respect from the people around you. They certainly will not help you with it.

The problem is isma.ayala is that you are trying to take culture and societal rules from Mexico and use them in Finland.

And that is where your problems start and end, because Finland regards itself and its system being without corruption. The Finnish people are very proud of this view in relation to other countries in the world, seeing "The 2006 Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index" saw them as the least corrupt country in the world. Hence, doing anything which bends the rules is seen as disrespectful to Finnish culture, its people and it future view of itself.

On the other hand, Mexico is 72 on the same index, which I guess mean, that in Mexico doing a bit of dodgy dealing are regarded as acceptable behaviour and maybe a way of getting back at your corrupt society.

So finally, finding dark work in Finland will be almost impossible if we only consider Finnish culture and society alone without putting Finnish immigration laws on top.

The emphasis on regards itself here. Basically lets say the "low level corruption" as in "regarding normal people" is virtually nonexistant. On the top level, politicians... OK, once you live here you can start to understand... but even that is not money in a brown envelope. So for the "small man" the corruption does not exist... you cannot bribe the police, you cannot pay extra to get faster service, you don't even give tips. And the "small man" expects if he goes A-B-C and pays D (even some people don't pay D, but you have to know what the D is) it is still ABC, not CBA or AC... And thus the bureaucracy also expects ABC. So if someone comes CBA they'll encounter "xenophobia and racism" because it is ABC and that isn't even allowed to be questioned.
