newcomers in finland...

Post by isma.ayala » Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:35 pm

hello everybody im Isma Ayala 24 year old male from tijuana mexico and since aprox. 2 years ago i've been wanting to move to finland, the thing is that i havent been able to get a work permit but as a mexican we dont need anything extra but a passport but with that you can only stay in the country for approx. 3 months, i will really appreciate if any one living in finland could tell me how hard it really is for a person like me to find any kind of job taking into consideration that i've been employed as almost everything from dishwasher, construction, sales representative almost everything i speak fluent spanish and english but again i heard how hard it is to get a job without knowing the lenguage but i learn quick!!!

thanx... -isma-

I would say your best (only?) chance is a Texmex restaurant. But if you cannot secure a job before you come here, it is going to be really difficult.

Be sure living and trying to get by in Finland in not easy

Firstly, education is the main means of achieving a living in Finland
Secondly, Anybody can do Dish washing and anybody does - construction on the other hand normally needs education of some sort plus a bit of Finnish
Thirdly, what the @#$% you want to live in Finland for? Its very cold, long and dark in the winter, anything between -10 to -30, sometimes from October to May, and depending where you want to live no sunshine at all for several months.

Only way for you to experience Finland is to become a Student and then you may be able to work and study and get an idea of what you are getting yourself into.

This is not USA. We do not employ "illegales" you will be told "piss off" and if you get a job and apply for a permit you and the employer will be shackled together to the airplane and told jejejejeje back in Mexico. We deport illegals, that is why we do not have them. This is not USA. Then again to get into EU, you might have a chance in Spain, once you get a RP in Spain, then coming to Finland is a different thing...

In order to avoid situation given by Hank you need a job before applying FROM MEXICO for residence permit based on job.

Catch? Employer has to convince bureaucracy that you are going to be doing for which there was no easily available finnish/EU citizen.
I have my honest doubts that you have so incredible dishwashing skills or other similar abilities that would fulfill that criteria.

In construction you may lack required certificates.

In sales business you are useless as few if any people buy stuff in spanish or english.

In short, better look for more realistic target.

dear Hank first of all it is very clear to me that the country where you live in is not USA... NOT by far far, trust me! if u ever been to wonderful California of course, which i really doubt but anyway second of all i have bad news for you, Finland does employee "illegal" workers, the way you call foreing hard working people that some how make your country better, by the way i just met someone that didn't need a work permit to find a job there... and thirdly if i get a job without the proper paper-work while in Finland why would they deport the employer to Mexico???? a fine may apply but going from that to sending the employer to a foreign country doesn't make a lot of sence to me  don't be so ingnorant, try to think before you write... ok pumpkin!!!! jajaja

ps. by the way i probably love Finland so much for the good job it did producing beautiful girls like my girlfriend who is by far far hotter than any girl you'll ever get dear Hank!!

thanx everybody for the info and everybody's welcome to California or Baja any time you guys wish (don't worry we are not as difficult jeje)

The beauty of Death Valley and Joshua Tree are in the eye of the beholder.
i have bad news for you, Finland does employee "illegal" workers, the way you call foreing hard working people that some how make your country better
The foreigners here work with legal papers. The amount of "illegals" is a fraction, they do not pay taxes, don't get healthcare, so they definitely do not make the country "better"-. You have been in the USA too long to get such capitalist opinions of society getting some benefit of exploitation of labor.
by the way i probably love Finland so much for the good job it did producing beautiful girls like my girlfriend
Well thats then getting a RP on the grounds of "family" and not work. Think yourself before you write.
Cheers, Hank W.
