Same here: our 2 girls got both flue vaccination this morning: no line, nothing at the neuvola but quite unfriendly nurses now my girls are terrified about getting any other vaccinations

Can you though? Only one shot in a child under 10 without the follow up shot 3 weeks later might be quite ineffective it seems.

it is not quite sure. I understood that Finland still wonders about the reactivity of the vaccine and has not made any decision for the 2nd shot. But I hope they're not so stupid to waste all that money: the media have already manage to get people to panic about the possible lack of vaccination for everybody, imagine what will hapen if they start to say that the vaccine doesn't protect you unless you get the 2nd shot. So if it is really needed, I'm confident that the gvt will arrange it, otherwise they just vaccinated thousands of kids for nothing In France they give two shots to be on the safe side. Also this morning, for the normal flue, the nurse said that my kids will need a 2nd injection in 1month because it is the 1st time they receive that shot...

So For those who think that Finnish system doesnt care.. Get to your own country and get that second jab....
This is the main thing with Foreign people coming here and making our perception from a Finn's p.o.v really really bad..
is doubting that the Finnish Health Ministry is incompetent..
IF not for ALL of those folks, Finland would not stand a chance in being ever on the world stage..

For the record the healthcare in question is for my son who happens to be a Finn. And this is his home country, and as he isn't very articulate just yet I'll question things for him to ensure he gets the best possible care. And I'll continue to do so thanks.

Hi,

my 7 year old will not take the vaccine. I just think this vaccine has too much mercury in it and that is a health risk in itself.

But everyone makes their own decisions. We eat really healthy, lots of fruits and veggies, and our immune systems are quite good, none of us have been sick for about a year now..

But I do understand those who take the vaccine, if you are scared I guess its always better to do it than worry all the time.

There are different types of the H1N1 vaccine though, and if you can get a vaccine without thimerosal (mercury), that would be good. But many H1N1 vaccines also contain msg and other not very welcome ingredients, as does other vaccines as well.. so Im not sure I would give it to my son even if I would find a mercury free brand.
