Nope, no talking sticks in Finland. But piece pipe (rauhanpiippu) has landed also in Finland. In fact it was one of the saygins the article mentioned: polttaa rauhanpiippua.

Kalpeanaama puhuu kaksihaaraisella kielellä and Kalpeanaama puhuu käärmeen kielellä are probably the “canonical” Finnish versions of that phrase.

I think Western movies in general (and Spaghetti Westerns in particular) were, at the time, blamed for the (perceived) moral decay and the (perceived) increased violence among the restless, easily-influenced youngsters...

Finnish equivalent would be "jätkähän puhuu paskaa!" "folk speaks !"#¤%!"
Kalpeanaama = paleface = correct, Puhuu = speaks = correct, Haarakkain kielin = umm.. whit tonques divided? bit odd.

As rare as black finnish. I did see one in my hunting trip. That was weird but he was finnish so we "shrugged off" it.

Hmm, maybe you've never heard the 'Injun" expression in westerns etc White man speak with forked tongue - kalpeanaama puhuu haarakkaalla kielellä (or maybe kalpeanaamalla olla haarakas kieli)... can't remember if that was used in Tex Willer but... think of a snake... it does not necessarily mean that the White Man speaks utter b*llocks, it's more a question of having ulterior motives behind his seemingly friendly words.

Yes thats it, i couldnt remember how it was said. Speaks language(tongue) of snake. Kieli is language and tongue in finnish
