Citizenship application while unemployed...

Did anyone try applying for citizenship while not working and still on work based residence permit? Here I don't include those with family ties but someone who were granted a residence permit based on work and then they lost their job but stayed long enough time to apply for citizenship and qualify the language requirement. Any chance to get citizenship in this case? What would be considered as strong ties to Finland in this case?
