 Yeah, do they show ice hockey in Chester, I'd really hate to miss the Jokerit match

Depends on what satellite its on, and whether the satellite is on...

Hank, you are altogether too cruel. EVERYBODY knows that the cricket is more important than the ice hockey, and that whenever Brits go abroad things really have to be just the same as they are at home, but warmer.

Or they complain.

433-7 - Flintoff just got bamboozled by Warne.

Edit:

Oh, whoops... GO Jones just got the GO order. Off stump uprooted. Inside edge, so it's hit wicket I guess. 434-8 at lunch.

Why don't folks make do with RADIO like everyone else around the world? Given the minimal time-difference here, I'd have assumed that people would be WORKING when the cricket is on, rather than propping up a bar and gawping at the box.

Latest

111.4 Warne to Giles, OUT: well flighted, drifting in, the ball pitches
and spins enough to beat the middle of the bat, take the outside
edge, and land in Hayden's hands at slip

England 438/9, Partnership of 4
AF Giles c Hayden b Warne 0 (6b 0x4 0x6)
SJ Harmison 4* (5b) SK Warne 32.4-5-99-3 (2nb)

all out for 444, if the last test is anything to go by we should have it wrapped up :D

i dont need to watch it, im quite happy to listen on the radio...
i would enjoy watchin it with a beer though, i dont think there is anythin wrong with us brits wanting to carry on watching sports when we leave!

would you give up one of your main hobbies just because you left finland??

Hank, we obviously wouldnt have jokerit on but we did have all the finland games in the ice hockey world cup...

surely the aussie bar should have it on, it wouldn't be a true aussie bar if they didn't :?

Not looking so good for England now. It wouldn't seem right if we won though...

Hi there,
Been a half-finn for 29 years now and have just found this forum - and I thought I was internet savvy...

I will be making my annual trip to Helsinki from 10-19 Sep to visit the grandfolks, and am very concerned, obviously, about missing the Ashes (cricket being a rather new found love of mine). From what I have read on this, and other, forums (but I haven't read everything, so forgive me if I have missed something) it looks unlikely I'm going to be able to watch it on Sunday and Monday, but if there were a place it sounds like the Outback Bar is the place where it would be on. (That's near Eatz, right?)

Is someone able to definitively answer whether this bar will be able to show it? Thanks so much if you can!

I daresay I shall be on this forum a bit more from now on. Terveisia to all finns and brits (and mixed races like me). I can't wait for Saturday...

Anything cool happening next week I should know about? (In Helsinki) Puhun Suomea, muuten!

Now that IS good news.
Thank you very much.

Now I can look forward to Finland AND Cricket, and it doesn't get much better than that.

See some of you there, no doubt,
Dan

Why don't you try Internet television?

Thanks - a good point, Juha; however I will be staying at a friend's flat in the city, who works with a laptop which travels with her where she goes.

Plus, I am on holiday so I'd rather not spend all day at a PC - a pub with a TV is more holiday friendly I think!

See you soon Helsinki,
D
