Started processing in the end of June and I'm still waiting. I recently had a call and surprisingly customer service person gave more insights. I was told that they are waiting information from another authority. Unfortunately, they didn't have any time estimation. They also didn't share from which authority. Before you ask, I don't have any crime, fine etc.
One side of me is leaning on just wait and even forget about that I applied for citizenship and the other side is more about contacting lawyer. Indeed, seeing many people having citizenship in shorter time is alarming. I wish that they had more transparency. Honestly speaking, even the idea of contacting lawyer makes me feel sad. I have never imagined myself having a need of a lawyer for my rights in this country.

What was original estimate for your application? Like in 2022 and in 2023 (in this year was it 23 months or 30)?_User123_ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 2:19 pmGot diary number in February 2022. Instead of hiring a lawyer, the Parliamentary Ombudsman can look into your matter for free._User123_ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 2:19 pmGot diary number in February 2022. I think you can't know type of your queue based on diary number. Diary number is amount of people applied for citizenship in a year. My estimation was 16000-18000 applicants in 2023 (based on migri statistics). When we start to see that diary numbers 1000-2000 have started to process, that means migri is on January 2024 applications.curiousan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 11:11 amJumping in the middle of conversation. My diary number starts with 17xxx. I see here many with the decision with diary number 16xxx . Of course i did got it late Dec 2023, So still have time for both shorter and longer queue to get processed for the application at this time. But how do i know which is the longer queue and which is the shorter queue based on diary number beginning ?burcu1 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 3:07 pmWhat's your diary number or just first two numbers? I am asking because I have similar background like you and trying to figure out if I am in the same queueNo_doo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 2:49 pm
Thank you. Yes, the maximum time keeps going up since I applied, it was 14 months back then.
I dunno why they placed it in the longest queue. And the funny thing that I got my permanent residence permit in 1 day. So I went for the verification at Migri, then the following day they granted it. So it is very random.
Best of luck for you too
About queue type, there was a graph at the beginning of this thread. 1st queue is 0-2000 (no one really knows what is it for), 2nd queue starts from 6000-6300 (I believe this is the slow queue as it moves slowly according to people in this thread) and 3rd queue starts ~8500-10000 which is normal or faster.
What was your initial queue number?

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I've applied for citizenship in March 2023. I am still at the first "Waiting for processing" stage. After around a year waiting I started to suspect that maybe my application went to the queue for "people who arrived to Finland without obtaining a residence permit in advance". You can see estimate on the Migri page for that queue to be 30 months, estimate for "people who arrived with a residence permit obtained in advance" is 7-23 month(s) currently. I wrote an email to Migri and they replied that the estimated waiting time for my application is 21 months (so I can assume that my application is in the correct queue). Then in couple months I wrote to them again and this time they replied that the estimated waiting time for my application is 30 months. I told them that they said that it is 21 months previously to which they replied that it is 23 months. I called them recently and they said that it is 30 months again. I don't understand why they keep telling me different information. What could that possibly mean?

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Is there any time estimation for 1st queue?
I applied in January 2023, and still waiting and my diary number is in 1st queue
I came as master student ( not a refugee), have full time job and already had permanent resident permit when applied for citizenship.

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Hello everyone, Finally I got a positive decision today after over 9 months.
I came here as a student in the end of 2018.
01/2020 I changed to working visa.
13/12/2023 I got queue number
6/9/2024 moved to step 2
I was worried about my application since it moved to step 2 over 2 weeks but it was worth waiting. Today I got the decision at 16:00.
This Finland Forum has helped me a lot to track my application and estimate when it went to process and it was all true information. Again, thank you for everyone here and I wish you all get your decision soon.

Estimation at the service point was one year. I haven't checked the estimation in 2022 and early 2023 but it was 23 months at some point in 2023.TUserFin wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 3:07 pmWhat was original estimate for your application?
