Contractor first time in Finland

Hi everyone,

My husband is due to start working in Finland in a few weeks - he’s never visited before.

He will either be based in Hamina or Kotka.

We are doing as much research as we can, but would really appreciate some help and advise on some of the following if possible:

Best things to do/places to visit at weekends (as he will be on rotation) to meet people

What would anyone recommend he take (if anything) from the UK

Are there expat communities or clubs for contractors?

Any general advise would be greatly appreciated.

Mr Kipling cakes, Pot noodles, Sugar free irnbru, crunchy nut cornflakes, Red Leicester and crumpets.

I'd take a few meat and potato pies to microwave later also.

From the UK I bring tea bags (Finnish price about 5x as much) and paracetamol/ibuprofen (Finnish prices about 10x UK prices).

As for the meat and potato pies - post brexit the food import rules are different and when I am asked at customs what's in my bag (which is not very often but it does sometimes happen), I explain that I'm coming from the UK and they specifically ask if I have any meat products.
