hi
if I understand right... you can not get unemployment benefit if you quit your job by yourself.
but today my co-workers said if you stay more than 4-5years of same job then you quit it then I am still able to claim for unemployment benefit..?
only you need to get 1 month of period of penalty period.
I am so confused about this topic. I tried to search I couldn't find any answer.
so unemployment benefit is available for everyone even tho you quit yourself ?

It's available. If you quit yourself, there's a mandatory waiting period.kelly1992 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:07 pmif I understand right... you can not get unemployment benefit if you quit your job by yourself.

i was given a PIP by my employer, the conditions became intolerable, I quit before the PIP was finalised. TE said I had commited a 'reprehensible' act (LOL) and because of this, I had to have a 1 month stand down. In reality it was more like 1 month and 3 weeks, because they don't start paying you your proper daily rate until at least 1 month and 2 weeks. So, yes, it is possible. I was approved for something like 1 year of unemployment, but the reality is, your visa conditions will determine how long you can stay unemployed, for most people it's either 3 months or 6 months.kelly1992 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:07 pmhi

I was given a PIP and then terminated due to 'Performance issues' (reality: did not get along with new mgr)
Will I receive unemployment allowance.
We signed mutual termination contract where I receive 1 month severance for not suing them.
Do I still qualify for unemployment allowance still?
TE office is going to call me for clarification regarding reasons of termination- do I need to be careful about saying something.
