Hello everyone! I am currently residing in Asia while my partner is in Finland with a resident permit. We are planning to get married in Finland somewhere around 2025-2026. Our plan is for me to get to Finland on a tourist visa and get married right away. After getting married, the plan is to get my resident permit based on "family ties".
Will this work? If yes, what would be the required documents if I am to apply a resident permit after getting married while staying in Finland on a tourist visa?
Thank you for the insights!

"Your partner may enter Finland with a visa, if the conditions for granting one are met, or without a visa, if your partner is exempt from the visa requirement. A Finnish embassy abroad decides whether a visa is granted.
When you have married, your spouse may apply for a residence permit on the basis of marriage or a registered relationship."

Yes, it’s possible to marry in Finland on a tourist visa and then apply for a residence permit based on family ties. However, first residence permit applications are usually submitted from your home country. Check with the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) for exceptions.
Steps :
Enter Finland on a tourist visa.
Get married. Bring documents like a "Certificate of No Impediment" (translated if needed).
Apply for a residence permit via EnterFinland. Note: If required, you may need to return to your home country to apply.
Required Documents :
Valid passport.
Official marriage certificate (translated if needed).
Proof of your spouse’s residence (permit or citizenship).
Proof of sufficient income (yours or your spouse’s).
Health insurance (if applicable).
Important :
Tourist visas last up to 90 days. If your permit isn’t approved in time, you’ll need to leave Finland.
Processing time for family-ties permits can take months.
Contact Migri early to confirm requirements. Good luck !
