Residence permit extension after passport expires

Hi, this may seem like a silly question but Migri does not seem to give straightforward answers. My passport will expire in 3 years and I was a student and will be applying for the degree completed in Finland visa. I do have a job. If I hopefully get the visa for the duration of my passport. Would migri allow me to extend my RP after I renew my passport before expiry?

I assume you are applying for an extended residence permit. Just renew your passport before it expires and then the residence permit based on its own expiry date.

” If your passport expires while the residence permit is valid, remember to renew it early enough. Your residence permit may be withdrawn if you don’t have a valid passport while residing in Finland.”
