Hi,
This post is about the recently passed laws about asking for application and tuition fee for university admissions.
I came on B type student RP in 2015. Now I have A type RP for work after completing my studies. Awaiting citizenship decision.
My kid has A type RP on famiky ties. She will apply for uni admissions in Jan 2026. The studyinfo page states that:
"If your first residence permit in Finland was granted for the purpose of studying, you are required to pay application and/or tuition fees, even if you later obtained a continuous residence permit (type A) on other grounds. If you have a continuous residence permit (type A) based on family ties, and your family member originally came to Finland on a residence permit granted for studying, you are also required to pay application and/or tuition fees."
Does this mean that my kid will have to pay full fee/application fee?
He has his basic and highschool from here but still does not qualify for permanent residence (PR).
If he has to pay full fee then shouldn't I start looking for other countries where as a kid of EU citizen, he will not habe to lay fee??
Plzz help about understanding this law. Thanks.

Why doesn't he have a residence card of a family member of an EU citizen in Finland?
