Any bars in hki showing the Baseball World Series?

Post by ScubaGirl » Tue Oct 25, 2005 5:52 am

I'm dying at the fact that I can't watch the games this season especially cuz the white sox are in it! I'm from chicago & wanna watch my team win it baby!!!! :D :D :D

I googled "sports bars helsinki", but didn't find any place that was showing the games. I know there are places that show the superbowl here every year, so I'm thinking there must be a place that shows the MLB world series. Game 3 is tonight!!! AHHHH!!!!!! GO SOX!!!!!!

I guess I'll be outta luck though cuz game starts at 3am finnish time

Yes, the Sox will most likely win. But at least the trip to the Series made gas prices go down in Houston! 8)

I don't care much for baseball anyway....Image

I was a HUGE baseball fan when I was a kid. Was on a girls softball team for many years. Mom took me to all the sox games whenever they played Oakland (A's were my fav team). This is back when they had Canseco, McGuire, Henderson, etc... I was decked out in all my A's gear at Chicago's Comisky Park .

This is so exciting though! Wish I was home to share in the excitement. Chicago goes nuts for their sports teams. I can remember all the way back to the '85 Bears superbowl victory (I was only in 2nd grade), our school enforced a dress code making it mandatory to wear blue & orange the whole week! If you didn't have anything blue or orange on, they provided you with that color construction paper to make a homemade hat with the bears logo LOL.

I also have great memories as a teenager during the BULLS double 3-peat years. That was insanity each time they won. Riots, looting, etc... (okay that was extreme, but some of us celebrated in a legal way :)) I ditched school to go to the all the Bulls victory parties with my friends each year in Grant Park (the whole team & coach was there with the trophy, Queen's "we are the champions" playing from the speakers, ahh it was great!)

GO SOX!!!!!!!

HAHA, tell me about!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't tell you how many phone calls I got at an ungodly hour waking me up from chicago with tons of cheering & celebrating in the backround, "we won, we won, wake up finland, we won!!!!" LOL!!! I'm only sad I can't be there to share in the excitement. Or maybe the Cubbies will bring it home next year when I DEFINITELY go back for an autumn visit. Hey, ANYTHING can happen, right???????

"Why is it called the World Series" Good question! Other counties have national baseball teams. America hadn't discovered the other countries before the MLB was formed. The world really is flat, ya know.

**ScubaGirl and Enk**Since I'm the only Houstonian here, with plenty of folks from Chicago, please limit yourselves to only rubbing in the game results in my face on THIS forum. Don't want to bother Finns with silly American sports scores. :x

Who gives a cack about baseball anyway, we got hockey back now and THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. Dallas Stars are gonna win the Stanley Cup!!!!!

 Don't have to worry about the Blackhawks winning that one,
that's for sure :D

And I think that Scuba and I are the only ones from Chitown (or its
burbs :)).

I think the Blackhawks might make the playoffs for once, they somehow got the cup winning goaltender, Khabibulan. :?

Here's my hockey prediction for anyone who cares:

West: Dallas vs. Detroit East: Ottowa vs. Philidelphia

*Stanley Cup champs: no f!@#$ing clue....

*World Cup: Canada vs Finland
