AKE Car Inspection Dates

Hi

Can anyone who has imported a UK registered car let me know what date the AKE inspection will be due on my car.

The car was registered in the UK on the 17.08.98 which is recorded on the Finnish Registration certificate.

I registered the car here in Finland on the 30.03.05 and that was when the first AKE Inspection was done. This is also registered on the Finnish certificate.

I have been told that the next inspection is now due before 17.08.06 and then every year before this date.

Can anyone confirm this from experience as I was expecting the inspection to be the same as the UK's MOT test and due once a year i.e before 30.03.06?

You have been correctly informed. This is the policy for all imported and domestic cars. It should have been inspected on the 17.8.05 as well.

Yeah, if I remember right it's as Neil says, it's related to the first registration date of the car.

My car was first registered in Sept 97 in the UK, registered in Finland Feb 2002, so I had to get it inspected again before Sept 2002 (i.e. after about half a year). I think you can get it checked in the 2 or 3 months before the due date so there is a big buffer period.

I never got it tested again in August 2005 and never received any reminders to do this, all I get is the 34.85 € registration fee quarterly bill

I know someone who also fell foul to this. He also never received any 'reminders' and he said there is nowhere on any of the Finnish docs that say when it needs to be done

It is the day before the first day of registration; unless the day is zero when its the last day of the month of the number of the last number in the licence plate

The registration inspection (in this case, 30.3.) will double as an annual inspection provided the yearly inspection deadline (in this case, 17.8.) occurs no later than 6 months after the registration inspection. That's why no annual inspection was required in 2005.
