SEARCHING FOR SOME FINNISH SCHOOLS IN ENGLISH!!!!!

Post by Vallu » Sun Apr 16, 2006 6:30 pm

Hei hei everybody!

I am Valentina, I am Italian and I am 21. I was a member of this forum many months ago, when the forum was still the old one.
I haven't been with you for a while, but here I am again!
I would really need to know if there are some Finnish language schools in Helsinki for foreigners. I would need some real full-time courses taught in English, as my Finnish knowledge is really poor! I am actually moving to Helsinki or Tampere next summer, to join Jussi, my Finnish boyfriend.
Thanks a lot guys!
Valentina - Vallu

For two english taught courses at Pirkanmaa Polytechnic, nursing and social securtiy and services, see here (click on degree programmes starting in English)

For the english programmes at Tampere Polytechnic, see here (click on Studies in English)

Both above mentioned schools are in Tampere.

Jyväskylä Polytechnis also has english taught courses, and I can tell that they are VERY easy since they apparently lack good teaching staff. See here If you need a bachelor degree without too much effort try International Business or Facility Management at Jyväskylä Polytechnic :D

The problem is that I guess for most schools your already past the application deadline. Try to negotiate or start studying at a so-called open polytechnic (meaning it's the same institution teaching you but you pay for tuition instead of passing the entrance exam and having iot for free (explained VERY basically)) and then apply next year for a full-time degree programmeand you get the courses acredidet which you have studied in the open polytechnic.

And, just in case, if you encounter the name "University of Applied Sciences", don't be puzzled, it's the same as Polytechnic. They jsut changed their names recently.

Hi Donald!

Thank you a lot for your information!
The problem is: I am searching for Finnish language courses! I want to learn Finnish language! So I was searching some language schools!
But actually, your information look also interesting, as in the future I would also like to really study something "high"!
But for a start, I would just be satisfied learning Finnish!
Thanks in any case!

Uups, paresse che non ho letto il tuo messaggio con tanta attenzione. Ho proprio visto il passaggio con " I would need some real full-time courses taught in English, as my Finnish knowledge is really poor!" ed a questo ho risposto.

Buona Pasqua!

Thanks a lot for your information (this time, they were right!!!).
And yes, it wouldn't be bad if you could ask to your Mexican friend!
Grazie!

Try emailing some of these places...

http://www.tampere.fi/english/studies/o ... index.html

The summer university will almost certainly have some Finnish courses to get you started. And the unemployment office should be able to give you some details on other fulltime English language courses.
