Translation into English

Post by p19 » Thu Jun 29, 2006 3:43 pm

Please I understand the whole sentence except the word "ehtyminen" and "katkokset". But I think that best will be that I can see it in the whole translated sentence.

So please, what does mean the sentece:

"Raaka-aineiden ehtyminen ja kulun katkokset saattoivat pakottaa vaihtoehtojen etsitään.

Thank you

I asked a Finnish friend of mine about this, and she said that it's slightly difficult to translate without knowing the precise context. Nevertheless, this is what she came up with:

The running out of resources and interruptions in the flow (?) might have forced one to look for alternatives.

Ok, Thanx. Just "flow" - ehtyminen isn't clear to me.. :(

Flow is actually kulun in the sentece (perusmuoto kulku).
ehtyminen is the "running out".

i really want to know what this means, it's chorus from one song:

Jos sanon et taivas on musta
se on niin musta kuin tahdon sen olevan ja
jos sanon et maailma ei pyöri
se ei silloin pyöri, jumalauta
suustani syljen tätä totuutta
saan sen maistumaan puulta ja suultani
luetaan taas ihmisten historiaa

Running out of raw materials and the resulting shutdown, (interuption of service/products) could have forced a search for alternatives.

Of course the word "shutdown" is an Americanism and would probably not be used in England or in an area where "Oxford English" is spoken.
Socialism has never managed to create anything beyond corpses, poverty and oppression.

If I say the sky is black
it is so black as I am saying it is and
if I say thhe world don't spin
then it don't spin, goddamn
from my mouth I spit
out this truth
I cause it to taste like wood and from my mouth
is read the history of men
Cheers, Hank W.
