Mountain Biking

Post by jingledel » Fri Jun 30, 2006 7:19 pm

Hey there,
I'll be coming out for a few months and I wanted to bring my bicycle. I was wondering if there is any decent mountain biking. Does anyone here have any experience with the trails in Finland? Whats the story with crosscountry cycling/camping? Is it possible? I appreciate any info that may come my way.

You can go biking in any forest, private or state owned, thats part of the "every man´s right".

There are lots of organized tours around the country.

This may be intended more for tourists, but has a lot of useful info anyhow:

Copy and paste the entire url above (incl. (pages)/Cycling) to get to the cycling pages.

The landscape here is really rocky. It makes for some relatively tough and technical riding. The biggest downside is that the trails aren't marked and there are no maps that I've heard of. It's all word of mouth. Hard to find and easy to get lost. But, it seems that there are a decent amt of trails out there. And, with the number of downhill bikes I see here, there's gotta be some of that too. Try looking at http://www.mtbcf.net. They do weekly rides.
