okay. even though its about a year off, im thinking of moving to finland. iv great qualifications and am fully trained as an addiction counsellor(very handy in finland i hear, plenty of work). iv been learning finnish myself from ireland for the past two years, its coming along, but in reality i know i will need to move in order to fully grasp it. the problem is, is there any jobs that i can do in when there to pay the rent for those initial 6-8mths before i look for real work? Now, i'll need examples and stuff, like cld i teach english as a foreign language if i gain a quickie course here etc. This ones for Hank as he has always been a feckin star in the past...thanks guys

Well, in case your Finnish is impressive enough to convince someone you can work behind a bar, theres always certain drinking establishments with kitch interior (named after a mollusk-selling bint, some prime minister's tart and the prime minister himself). There isn't "work" quite as much as in ireland - we don't have "help wanted" ads in every window here and you read the news of people getting laid off. Now if you can do physical labor and seen a welding torch before the dockyard's whining of net getting enough laborers... niche jobs like this may be around. What comes for TEFL certificate - it will help, but the thing is the market for teachers is quite a bit smaller than in some places. But not impossible - just hard. What comes to your councelling certificate - now if that is valid and how/whom does the validation that's a question. You probably would need a few courses as well to get the "how stuff works in Finland" re. bureaucracy in you, but its easier to accomplish here.

So, as you claim to know Finnish: http://www.mol.fi => avoimet työpaikat ;)

Now in case you have HBS and are planning on moving to some obscure village, then the job prospects start to dwindle...
the only job a Corconian finds there comes natural tho - bogtrottin'
