Really getting into Photography of the Little One

Post by Xochiquetzal » Fri Sep 22, 2006 5:47 pm

One thing that I'm really happy I got into since I moved to Finland was photographing my ankle-biter. There are so many beautiful places to take pictures of her that I've now realized I have to start selling some of my belongings to afford a DSLR. :) I wonder if I can sell the husband off...?

I love the pictures, Andrea, and she's getting so big! Great work on the photos and the manipulations.

I like photo number two from the top.
Nice composition and colours of the background, although I do believe you've been manipulating the colours a bit, right  Anyway it's very stylish.
I also really like the expression of your girl, lovely in a very natural way! :D
Keep up the good work!
Somewhere in between...

Actually, that second one didn't need a photoshop color manip - I had set the camera on chroma, which gives a very saturated and sharp feel. Plus, it was in a shaded forest, so no sun to wash out the colors. That one also was my favorite of the lot.

That's my favorite, too. She looks like a fairy taking a break.

Hi. I only keep them up for a few days or so since this forum is on all the search engines.

So what dslr did you buy?

we bought nikon d50 (for the starters :D )

we bought a starter kit from germany (online shop) and all together (the body and one lens incl. postage) it was 600 e!

today we had our second ultrasonic, the baby was very shy and hold its hands in front of its face - I said to the midwife, it should not be so shy since we'll take lots of pics when it's born

So,
In this regard, How does one go about "promoting" the little anlgels to be stars? Where does one start? Sending photos to modelling agencies? Taking them angels somewhere ?
Any poiners?

Ah Cool. I just bought a Nikon d50 as well (though it was a hard choice with the EOS Rebel XT coming down to a comparable price). I expect it to arrive next week (using a Fujifilm s9500 right now). I've had to sell off a bunch of stuff to afford it, but it's worth it! (still debating selling off the husband, though)

I bought

Nikon D50 body
Tamron AF55-200mm F/4-5.6 Di-II LD Macro
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens
Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash
Tamrac Explorer 10 DSLR Camera Bag (Blue)
Tiffen 62mm UV Protection Filter
Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control for D50

Set me back about 800e. Nikon lenses are cheap but the bodies never go on sale. Rebel XT bodies are cheap now but the lenses never go on sale. Go figure.

Anyhoo, the pictures I posted were photo manipulations and not standard photography. So probably not very interesting to you. E.g., here's a picture of my daughter that I took at Hvittrask. I just created an Alma-Tadema type of picture for the original photo:

I see you are in Espoo. If you're interested, we could meet up somewhere and try each other's lenses and see what works. I tend to drag my 3 year old all over Espoo, Vantaa, and Kirkkonummi looking for places to do a shoot with her. Give me a nearby bus stop, and I can be there.
