Planning to live in Finland
I have got a temporary residence permit here for a year. I am doing a voluntary work about culture and art at one organisation in Helsniki. So far I notice from my observation, I am planning to live in Finland. I just don't know what I should do for that. My residence permit will be valid till June 2007. It is not possible for me to find a permanent job here in Finland as I don't have any working permit. I also still don't speak Finnish. Is there any idea how to get a permanent residence permit in Finland please?

Well, first you can search these forums. Here are lots of threads of very same question by many folks. Try here
To put it short, you have three basic ways to stay here:
1) You are married to a finnish person
2) You have a study place some school
3) You have a working place (ie. make a working contract with some company or have paper that they offer you work if you get the work permit).
Others can instruct you more.

Re: Planning to live in Finland
The main question is: why do you want to live in Finland and not in some other country (e.g. the USA, the UK, Portugal, Singapore or Somalia)? Your immigration plan MUST begin with an honest answer to this question of why you are choosing Finland in particular. If you are happy to share that answer with other readers of the forum, then respond here. If you'd like to give your answer privately, then send a private message.Indonesian2006 wrote:I have got a temporary residence permit here for a year. Of course I enjoy Finland so much so far. I find out also the it is more secure for me to be here. I can say that Finland is art of country and I would like to introduce some cultures of Indonesian in Finland. One of the reasons also that I have got some Finnish friends in Finland.
Life is beautiful!
These sound like reasons for visiting Finland, but not reasons for staying in Finland for the rest of your life.Indonesian2006 wrote:Of course I enjoy Finland so much so far. A need for security is a reason for immigrating as a refugee, but you will need to be much more specific about the threat to your individual security in Indonesia. Your wish to introduce Indonesian culture to Finland is a reason for immigrating if this becomes a viable business proposition, but not while it remains a mere hobby. Finnish friends are a reason for visiting Finland, but not for living in Finland permanently. If the friends are close enough to become family members, then this assessment may change.
Broadly speaking, Finnish public policy favours unification of families (including same-sex couples) in Finland where one family member has ties to Finland, immigration on economic grounds (e.g. to do a job or run a business) where those grounds are viable and not inconsistent with the national interest, and immigration for humanitarian reasons.

Stay active! Make plans to cook a neat dinner every night. Get in a routine. Go to the library. Work out. The rest will fall into place.nathalie wrote:i moved to finland 3 weeks ago cause of my finnish boyfriend; now i'm living a ciltural shock cause i still have to start to do something here, like study or job, and i see everything as soooooo difficult, and it seems so hard to make friends here out of my boyfriend's friend...
